Expecting it 2010 was quite optimistic imo, we had a bad few years with nothing good released since 2007 so we kinda expected and really wanted something big to happen in 2010, and got caught up in the hype... Which they started building too early... Anyway, looking forward to the next year, between TOR and Guild Wars 2, and possibly Blade & Soul, its going to be an interesting one.

Good. About a year in is when an expansion starts to get stale, anyway - this is a brilliant move on their part, if perhaps motivated by dollars instead of sense.

I'm going to play Cashaclysm, which was going to be a foregone conclusion anyway, and thanks to this I'm going to be able to enjoy it without splitting time between the old MMO I've played for five years and made hundreds of friends in and the new MMO I've been dying to play since news first leaked out. And then, when the time is right, I'll play TOR and enjoy the hell out of it.

Gives me more time on the games I want for the Xbox but it's still sad I have to wait over a year.

It's official now. Here is the thread on the official site: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=2350365#post2350365

I'm a little mixed on the news. I was hoping for a 2010 release date just because I would have liked to get my hands on it. On the other hand, I'd rather had a polished and finished game to play when it does come out so I'm willing to wait.

Also, someone needs to educate those EA executives about keeping some of their confidential information confidential. I'm absolutely sure Bioware did not want to have their target release date out in the open yet. This kind of shows their hand to all the competition and it puts a big timeclock on the wall that the developers/fans will look at constantly.
Well can't blame EA with what else they have to work with this year(Well besides Mass Effect 2, but that's not an MMO). If SWTOR performs, it will pretty much be their darling for a few years. Riccitello likes to announce things that get him excited. At least in his case he's excited about games. He-from-Activision-who-shall-not-be-named only likes money. He would have released SWTOR last year in its pre-alpha full of bug form.

They are only altering the terms of the agreement. Pray they don't alter them further.

This is an unacceptable development.

Interesting... I wasn't even aware that it had a projected release date. Well, if it takes them a few months longer to make a better game, I'm willing to give them the time.

As excited as I am for Old Republic, I'm happy it got pushed.

If it came out around the time Cataclysm comes out, there's no way I'd be playing Old Republic.

Having a Spring Release date will give me a better chance of enjoying and playing it.

Gives me time to settle for a job and a place to live before I get eaten up by the game :)

Good thing, just keep delaying it all you can, the more time spent making it better, the happier I am.
but at some point, that sort of thinking breaks down, because if that's true, then Duke Nukem Forever really would have been the space warping epic game Yahtzee said it would have been had it ever been released.

Well on 1 point they may need to improve alot of stuff and at least i never heard anything about the completition level of the game....there so many aspects in a MMORPG....
Also from tactical point of view going against Blizzard`s Cataclysm is suicide....even SW fanboys would think twice if they have to chose between the expansion and the new game that they know nothing of.
Not to mention that blizzard releases new info about the incoming expansion and its going to be RLY MAJOR! Gona flip wow upside down and if the competition is payign attention it makes sense that they dont want to go agaisnt that...i mean Cataclysm is creating a big hype and in my personal opinion is gona b ethe best time to get old players back in the game...

So if TOR is delayed....that gives the mass time to try out Deathwing and then when the Siths finally hit shelves they can make their decision more clearly....aka...DIABLO 3 -_-`

Sigh....
too much stuff against TOR :X
