k, so, im not really big into playing rts, i dabble in and out[halo wars, brutal legend(i know its not full on, but it had elements)] so its safe to say im not really into hardcore rts, do you think that stafcraft 2 would change that? because honestly it looks promising.

also, the new cod is getting part of it set in 'nam, im worried that it wont do it justice, im fascinated with that war(only reason i played shellshock 2) and it feels like they wont capture the torture aspect of it, which would take away alot of the immersion, thoughts?

So explanation marks=importance!!!11!!!111!!11!!!!111oneoneone

Okay I kid I kid, I found even though I loved the ideas of RTS games none of them actually could hold my attention for more than a week, I can only assume starcraft would be the same. Perhaps try starcraft one first, it will be cheap now and give you an alright indication of the gamestyle and play.

Also CoD black ops seems to be all over the world, included vietnam. My only concern for them is that they do lots of places okay, and none well which would suck. Though, being honest I think they know that with the COD franchise now it's the multiplayer part where you generate all your money so don't get your hopes too high for the story.

No problem and I also get pissed off when the single player is sacrificed on the altar of good online play. But I find I cannot judge them to harshly, they are plowing millions into making the game and they have to make sure they get a profit (they are no matter what people say all in it for a money). If 80% of peoples habits are going on an online shooter before a single player I'd want to make sure I had the best multiplayer game I could.

Hell I will even admit, though I love myself some single player I do think I spend much much more time online. Especially if I'm given a co-op mode to play with.

I think Black Ops will have a great fun campaign, as all the COD games do.

I don't care whether or not it's realistic or whatever.

I see you play RTS games on the console.

Big mistake. RTS games are infinitely superior on the PC, and I believe Starcraft 2 is an excellent start off. Play that game. DO IT.

Starcraft wont change your mind about RTS's, though it is fairly easy to get into.

CoD wont do it justice. To do it justice they would have to show how disgusting the american forces were and that would fuck their sales.
You are a legend.

OT: If RTS games, or games with RTS elements, haven't struck a chord with you yet, then I wouldn't recommend giving STarcraft 2 a shot, as it may be a waste of money.

As an avid RTS player all I can say is consoles RTS's are very frowned upon for not being as good as PC RTS's and are very different from one another so if you like console RTS's you might not like PC ones. I recommend downloading the first Starcraft from the Blizzard store and playing through that, if you like it then you'll most certainly enjoy Starcraft 2. So far I don't have a bad word to say about it yet, though I haven't had a battle online yet.

SC2 is great. It balances the Singleplayer and Multiplayer very well and the singleplayer has a high amount of re-playability. However if you do not like RTS that much then go get SC1 first.
Can't agree with that tbh. If you're not really into RTS the outdated ui in SC1 will have you pulling your hair out. For a casual gamer SC2 is a better start, with easier control, more explanation in the form of a tutorial and challenges and you might actually stand a chance in mp.

First off, please use SOME punctuation. Secondly, Shellshock 2 was a blight on Video Game Society. A god damned Facebook game has less glitches and better looking graphical prowess than Shellshock 2... Also CoD:BO is not set only in Nam, it is about the entire Black Operations, you will see locals such as Russia , 'Nam as well as a few other places. Plus I trust Treyarch won't do such a shitty job as IW did with MW2 at least multiplayer wise.

SC2 is great. It balances the Singleplayer and Multiplayer very well and the singleplayer has a high amount of re-playability. However if you do not like RTS that much then go get SC1 first.
i do use some :O!!!!!!!!!! dont troll, lol, and no shit, i was talking specifically about that one part of the game, use your brain and you would have picked that upo_O

I say jump into starcraft 2, but make sure youre pc can handle it- you sound like a console gamer, halo wars was not meant to be a very good rts, and brutal legend is barely an rts in the traditional sense- so go for it, try it out.

The single player is great, and its easy enough for first time players, and so is the multiplayer, the matchmaking system really is great.

If you like story in games, this has bioware level of quality in that regard.

StarCraft II has a great story and is overall fun to play, but at the same time it also feels fairly run-of-the-mill and doesn't have a lot of variety regarding factions to play as. It's easy enough to jump into, but if you're willing to give RTS an honest shot, try Dawn of War and its expansions (stay away from Soulstorm, though) - a good deal of variety and a kickass setting to be found here.

Start with Dawn Of War. Gory, Sci-Fi RTS.
Maybe Company Of Heroes. Awesome, WW2-themed RTS.
Then Starcraft 2. You'll be killed in Multiplayer and overwhelmed.
