Bought the digital download edition: had some problems downloading the client on my Macbook Pro (all fine on Windows Vista desktop, also if it said "p2p network disabled") but now I did it and all is set for my grand comeback-from-work tonight.

My brother got it, and has been playing non-stop for the past 3 hours, and probably the next 11. (it's 8pm on a school night)

So it's the 27th here in Australia and I have received my copy of Starcraft 2.

Box Contents:
- Starcraft 2 (in a cardboard CD cover and CD-Key stickered on)
- Cute little notepad with pictures of WANTED Jim Raynor, on it.
- Quickstart Guide / Booklet
- Guest Passes
2x Starcraft II (14days / 7hrs playtime)
2x World of Warcraft
Is this your collectors edition!?
If so, what did you pay?
Nah, That's the regular box.

I was quite sad that they were doing a very limited run of the Collectors Edition. I unfortunately couldn't afford to lay down at deposit at the time it was announced and I missed out. I was really looking forward to the Soundtrack & other stuff that comes with it.

It's a very artistic game in both Graphics and Audio. Not to mention the awesome USB stick. :(

Got a digital copy (downloaded the client over the weekend), and I'm a bit stumped... the installation process is stuck at 99%, which I suppose is due to the game not having been activated via game key on my battle.net account. Here's the problem: I have no key. It's neither on my account site, nor was there one in the order confirmation e-mail. Is this because the servers simply need time to process my order and a key will be sent to me in (maybe) a few hours, or is this a general screw-up? HAELP!!1!1

Well Blizzard really dropped the ball for us over here in Australia and New Zealand. We've been cornered off to our own {SEA} (South East Asia) servers instead of being included with the US ones.

It affects everything, especially Battle.net. In the beta, there was hundreds of games, at the moment we're lucky to play 1 custom map after waiting 15mins for it to fill up, and it's a crap one anyway.

The Single Campaign is pretty epic, I love the story, but a bunch of it is just filler. I was not overly impressed about the "ending" if you could call it that.

The fact that Blizzard invested $100 million & there are TONS of problems at the moment, I really don't know what to think. I've seen some pretty bad game releases before (Aion, lol)

But I wasn't expecting it this bad from Blizzard, not to mention most of the problems are self inflicted. Achievements work fine, except you need to be logged into Battle.net, so of course the Achievement servers have been shut down and you don't get achievements. Thumbs up Blizz! not.

They announced approximately an hour ago:
http://sea.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/23067#blog
North American Battle.net Access Coming

We?re pleased to announce that all players who purchase the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty? will also have the option of playing on North American servers following the launch.
Our intention is to make it available within 60 days of launch -- at that time, players with a copy of the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will automatically gain the option to download the North American version of the game client through Battle.net®
Obviously it needs to be downloaded, and 60 days but that's not the worst of it.
Q: How will my friends list and rankings be handled?
A: All account-specific data, including friends lists, rankings, achievements, statistics, titles, and unlockable rewards, will be tracked separately for each region's Battle.net servers, and will not carry over between them.

I'm very fortunate to posses my box.

I ordered it two days ago.

Have opened mine up, installed it, played six hours into the campaign, and a long Terran vs. Zerg match. (...I lost...)

It was that limited? When I went to get mine at GAME, they said they had lots of Collector's Editions, so you could buy one without a pre-order. Although I did pre-order mine. Better to be on the safe side.

I absolutely suck at RTS games, causing me to despise all apart from the few I had a chance to get good with. I played Company of Heroes, a Game of the Year winner, for about two hours before deciding that my book report was actually sounding more fun. That said, Starcraft 1 is one of those "few games".

How is this game at bringing back an FPS gamer who honestly could not give two flying firetrucks about any RTS that's come out in the past 10 years? Is it a pros-only game? Is it combat-only and no-basebuilding? etc

:O

I don't think there are any GAME shops nearby here. I couldn't find it on their website either.
Oh well. I bet the Soundtrack is gonna get torrented, maybe the art book too.

After finishing the Single Player Campaign I'm severely disappointed with the multiplayer experience. The servers are a ghost town, I had to wait about 3 mins to find a 1v1 match (practise league) for my first game. :/
I'd hate to be in a higher tier ladder.
Custom Maps need to be uploaded, and currently there are two custom maps on the SEA servers. That's it.
It's pretty bad.

I think it's a pretty bad failure on Blizzard's behalf, especially since it is such a Multi-player based/designed game and they dropped $100 Million on it. I really was expecting better from them.

The single player is absolutely fantastic, very varied and fun and there's a ton of difficulty settings so anyone could get into it. The multiplayer is more orientated towards a hardcore style RTS, very fast paced and strategically varied, but it sounds very much like vanilla SC2 multiplayer isn't your cup of tea.

However, you may well enjoy playing custom maps; there'll be tons of people playing non RTS custom map stuff like DotA or tower defenses and god only knows what else; the custom map maker is so great people can make shooters and racing games in it (!).

I've been getting 1v1s consistently in under 30s in SEA (1 practice, ~10 bronze, ~5 silver), maybe the servers were down or something? Seems fine now.

Extremely polshed game, have not played the first one but am loving the second.

Great RTS so far.

So guys/gals, worth buying the original? Haha I tried to read up on backstory, can still be a bit confusing at times :)

Got mine today to pal, I'm over the ditch in NZ :)

So, I got this at midnight from Gamestop. I didn't install it until about 1 AM. I played it until about 6:00 AM. I then woke up around 11:00 AM. I then played it up until about now. Yeah. I just spent over twelve fucking hours playing this game.

In terms of where I am: I just finished all the other levels for the other people. I just met "someone's son" and just started the first mission of that since it's my last available option.
