Blizzard have posted a 20 minute Starcraft 2 competitive skirmish at

http://eu.starcraft2.com/features/battlereports/1.xml

Can't really comment on how well the tactics etc are but it did look fairly balanced. Check it out even if you don't enjoy competitve play as it still gives a good idea of how the games going to play anyway.

One of the commentators also gets way too excited over a probe in the first couple of minutes of footage.

While the commentators were quite annoying, the footage was pretty good. The game looks good and seems like it plays quite good too. Also, it's been a while since they put up any new SC2 info and I was suprised to see the two new terran units (Marauder and Hellion).

Also, the game feels like Starcraft which is quite important is the general audience is to accept it. This game is a great chance for Blizzard to prove they can still do a proper normal game and not just WoW...

I really like the direction SC2 is going in. The destructible objects over the map make it seem more like a Warcraft 3 in a good way, not just SC with better graphics.

With people who consider video games to be a sport, you can't expect anything less then crazy commentary lol. They do it for StarCraft 2 as well.

Great gameplay I guess, but why so few Marines ? ... I guess thats the difference between a n00b and a l337 Korean's playstyles.

Nice to know they're STILL adding new units.

I can't help but compare this to DoW2 and well DoW is winning me over more so far. The combat just looks so....take it in turns sort of thing.

It is very rock/paper/scissory, but the singleplayer campaign is supposed to have unique units that won't be in multiplayer.

Multiplayer HAS to be very, very, very balanced and R/P/S, because it's a goddamn religeon in Korea and Kim Jung Il will nuke Blizzard if they screw it up.

Gameplay looks good, nice and smooth too. I can't wait for StarCraft 2, if only my computer would handle the requirements though, ugh.

When I watched that yesterday (or two days ago?) I was wondering why some of those Protoss units were dying without issue while the Terran units behaved much like old Protoss units in regards to survivability.

Something about that replay didn't seem right. It was like the roles had been switched. Terrans played like old Protoss and Protoss played like old Terran.

If you're reffering to the Marauders, they stayed alive a lot due to the huge amount of micromanagement the Terran player was doing. Their missiles slow down their targets, so he used that to slow the Zealots, get out of range and fire again. When the Zealots close distance the Marauders go down fast.

Clearly you have never seen e-sports before.

I got the impression the Terran player was a bit overpowered, but then the Protoss were also teching like mad and it didn't pay off in the end. Going for some cheap air units might have been better. Still, in the past, it was generally 1 Protoss unit = 2 Terran units in both cost and quality/strength/etc., and that doesn't seem to be so much the case here. The Terran mid-game units seem too easy to mass up and even ten of them were able to wipe out a base in seconds. It's too much.

Was really looking forward to the map editor for Starcraft 2, but it's in three parts - what happens to the editor? Do I have to get all three games to get all the functionality? Gah, that spoils it a bit for me. And yeah, the combat does seem very 'old school' - no cover systems, little evidence of moving and shooting - it's like nothing of substance has been changed since the first game. Just looks so simple compared to CoH, or even DoW, though I didn't like that game. The only thing it has going for it is the aparrently legendary balancing the first game had, and yeah, balance is cool n all, but I don't want to see everything else sacrificed for it :(
