I loved both SG1 and Atlantis. The final episode of Atlantis was a bit disappointing to me though.

Bloody hell! my Mum Loved Stargate-SG1 and got me into it.
It's actually a cool program. But you need to watch the movie first otherwise it makes no sense.

I love Stargate! Unfortunately, haven't seen the last season of SG-1 or anything more than the second season of Atlantis and I agree, Vala is incredibly annoying! :p

I'm a diehard fan of both SG-1 and Atlantis, love both of them, and frequently re-watch the episodes on DVD. The Atlantis finale was somewhat lacking though, I'll agree.

I loved both but I hate the fact that the Sci-Fi Channel cancelled both of them.
For SG-1, it's not really a case of being "cancelled", per se. It ran for TEN seasons... they were running out of plot ideas. Atlantis was getting there, but I think it had another season in it.

I like SG-1, I'm currently renting it so I can see it in order. I haven't seen much of Atlantis, but it also seems like it'll be good.

I saw the first, second and third ep. of Atlantis, but I've never seen the other seasons apart from some scattered episodes here and there. I don't know if I was missing on a lot of backstory, but I got bored very fast, so I stopped watching.

They are all awesome, been watching for I don't know how long... 8 years or so maby?

SG-1 changed after Jack left, still good, but his brand of comedy was the best by far.

Atlantis was hard for me to get into, but I aaaaalmost prefer it over Sg-1

The last episode was a prologue to the movie, it will fill all the gaps in :)

Two favourite episodes, Window of Oppertunity (SG1 series 4 episode 6) and Midway (Atlantis Series 4 episode 17)

I liked Stargate SG-1 a lot, mostly the episodes that WEREN'T about Systemlords.
The whole Ori-thing was pretty awesome, although some of the Ancients' stuff was a bit weak (didn't like the whole Arthur/Merlin/Morgan).
I've seen The Ark Of Truth and I really liked the solution for the war, with the Doci bending over in sorrow...
He and the Priors were victims, too, after all.

Overall, I liked Atlantis better than SG-1, many of the characters were more interesting than the SG-1 ones (Sheppard, McKay, Beckett, Weir, Radik,...) while others utterly sucked (Teyla).
When I first saw Atlantis I was like "what the hell, this looks totally cheap!" but after a bit of getting used to, I can now say that the whole atmosphere of being totally alone in a galaxy of evil is much more interesting than launching attacks from Earth and having some of the most powerful ships available to you.
It was similar to Star Trek Voyager in that respect, which I also (mostly) enjoyed.
Also, the Genii kick ass.
