I love SG-1, I didn't care much for the last 2 seasons where they got rid of O'Neil. Atlantis is pretty good as well. Also I own all the movies but the first one that started it all is the best, and I have low hopes for universe. Name me one time the second spin-off of a show has been good.
Star Trek.

i think the earlier seasons were better, because at that point they were stil exploring what they could do with the concept of the stargate. in the later episodes, when they have exhausted all their ideas, they concentrated too heavily on story, and it stopped being quite as good. the later episodes with the Ori were more than a bit, but i think that Atlantis was almost as epic as the early series of SG-1

Love the series myself.

Unfortunately I got hooked when they where showing the Stargate SG-1 fan favorite marathon when the series was ending.

Have been watching a lot of both since than and am a devoted fan.

In my opinion, it's actually nice to get hooked on a series near the end... that way, you can buy and watch the seasons at your own leisure (or even watch them online, in some cases).

I loved both but I hate the fact that the Sci-Fi Channel cancelled both of them.
For SG-1, it's not really a case of being "cancelled", per se. It ran for TEN seasons... they were running out of plot ideas. Atlantis was getting there, but I think it had another season in it.
This is how I felt about when SG-1 and then Atlantis were cancelled, was bummed out when I heard the news but figured better to end while it's still riding high and then let it drag out into pure suck.

I'm gonna have to disagree with that one. The original transformers was the best everything after that was a shallow shadow of a shell of that show.
Wasn't the second Transformers spin-off the one with the animal Autobots? That show rocked.

It is certainly the best Show I've ever seen, and I've watched a lot of TV. I bought the full 10 season box-set, and I'm hoping to get the same for Atlantis if they release one.

So true about canceling while it's still good. I got my family hooked on SG-1 after they had been hooked on Smallville. I've only watched the first half of the first season and a few minutes here and there, and it's got nothing on SG-1. Even my family is kinda resenting it because of how far it's dragging itself down. I will find it personally insulting if it accumulates more seasons than Stargate, and it's getting close to that now.

It was "Beast Wars", and it was indeed awesome. In fact, I'm gonna go see if I can order it right now.

Personally I loved SG-1. . .at first I wasn't too sure about SGA but it eventually grew on me too. Next up in the series is Stargate Universe. . .I have some serious misgivings about that one as it just seems like they're stretching now. . .but who knows, may end up growing into it as well. . .
