I think I would have something about half the size of the millenium falcon, small and sleek, built for manouverability and speed, able to carry maybe 4 people at most, It would be used for domestic purposes but able to function as a fighter in an instant, armed to the teeth with lasers, and I would name it "Pegasus"

In the empty frictionless void of space, what is the purpose of sleek? I recall seeing something, maybe History Channel's the Universe, where they hypothetically came up with might as well be cubes with directional thrusters and maybe some sort of gyroscopic cockpit that would turn the direction you decided was the front. They proposed that would be the most agile and quickest, but it wouldn't look sleek.

Not that you have a bad idea, just thinking out loud so to speak.

I honestly have never thought of that before, I suppose it would be for when it has to enter atmospheres of other worlds, after all, you need a sleek craft if you want to bulleye wamp rats in Beggars canyon, and they're not much bigger than two metres!

I call mine Kalis after the sword. It would be a long, slightly curved ship with stealth abilities. Mostly a close range fighting ship. I wouldn't serve with any fleet, I'd be a renegade Captain of a private smuggling operation. Completely stealth black.

Stealth cruiser form of ship called the "Turbulent night"

Armed with heavy hitting weapons to quickly incapacitate most ships as well as space in the ship to land small forces for ground battles, also the stealth systems would allow the laying of tactical mines and observation.

But yeah, the properties of a good spaceship and the properties of a plane are different. And landing/taking off vehicle would be a different craft all together.

I'd go with the good old Battlestar Galactica. Tough ship, well armored and armed and as proof throughout the whole series she took a pounding and managed to make it all the way to the final episode.

Yeah it might not be the best looking ship ever made but hey, she's a warship, she's not built for looks but for kicking ass!

Well, A man can dream. I want my fighter spaceship to look cool and badass, and if that means making it aerodynamic and sleek, then that's fine by me (It's not like I'm ever actually going to design a combat ready, interplanetary shuttle... or am I?)

I have, for a very long time, determined that my ship will be called the Dauntless.

It would fall into a 'strike' category, a mid-sized ship with far too much firepower and speed for its own good, but with enough armor to take a few hits. As much as I love the big ships like the Battlestar, or the Galaxy-class or Sovereign-class, it's just not my style. The 'massive conglomerate' type of ship simply doesn't suit me. I'm not the type to be going toe-to-toe with giants, constantly firing off heavy barrages.

But something that's got some respectable power, but in a moderate size, having that agility at my disposal. Something involving lots of maneuverability, involving precise, hard and fast strikes, being considerably more 'in' the battle, that's what really gets me going.

I suppose the SSV Normandy would work well as a general template, but not stealthy, and a bit bulkier, tougher. I do love the Normandy, but it's not my ship, it's Shepard's.

The starship 'Motoko' has been a loyal follower in my space adventures ever since high-school. Major Kusanagi Motoko is the namesake. Obvious reasons.

My ship would be called "Sagan's Legacy" or something similar and it would be designed around function rather than form. It would be brimming with scientific instruments and built to allow lengthy scientific/exploratory missions to distant, yet-unseen regions of space. It's crew would consist of intelligent, well-educated and open-minded people from all over the world.

So I used to write a lot of bad sci-fi and came up with the idea a long time ago of taking a Midway [http://www.wcnews.com/newestshots/full/original-midway.jpg] class megacarrier (designed to be a one ship fleet already, fitted with science and marine quarters, anti-Capship weapons as well as anti-fighter weapons and its fighter and bomber compliments) and super-sizing it.

The design I ended up with was bigger than a planet (to give you some idea of size a ringworld [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringworld#Ringworld_engineering] is 997,000 miles wide, I came up with a story arc in which one of my ships was modified with creation engines [contained nanobots, able to take a handfull of dust and produce a pistol, or the contents of a solar system and...] to build ringworlds by circling a sun, tug boats and mining ships slicing up and towing the mass to the ship provide the supply.)

I named the flagship the Tuatha De Danaan. The ships were outfitted with various experimental technologies, multiple halo style ship-board AI's and worked as a sort of inter-galactic peace keeping force (later calling themselves 'the order') on behalf of the confederation.

So, yeah, I choose my vast super-midway ship called the Tuatha De Danaan.
