Do you think you could start a successful meme?
What would it be, and how would you spread it?

I've got two in mind that I think I might be able to spread around.

The first is Pikachu milk. Back when I was little, I insisted that my dad put blue food coloring in my milk, calling it Pikachu milk.

I could spread some humorously captioned pictures and maybe make a demotivator, and it would probably do pretty well.

My second is an old Gmod video.
It's a kid messing up a Lit Fuse Films server, and being the most funny thing ever.
Here it is:

So what kind of meme would you make if you did?
Do you think it would succeed?

I should really start playing Gmod again...
Think of all the hilarious trolling I'm missing out on!

Me and my friends made a failed meme called Tony the Tool. Lasted on /b/ for a day, then faded into oblivion.

You can't force a meme. The unintentional nature of it's creation is a large part of the humour.

Pretty much. The best memes come from spontaneous bursts of awesomeness. As an example, I direct you to Zinedine Zidane's Crowning Moment of Victory.

You CAN force a meme, but it takes a lot of effort and determination.
Look up 'meme' on Encylopedia Dramatica. It'll be at the bottom of the page (somewhere), If I remember correctly.

You don't make a meme.

Memes have been and will be, they exist from the dawn of time, they merely awaken their power, revealing themselves to humanity...

Memes only occur naturally if something is truly lulzworthy it will become a meme.

You cant try to make a thing a meme it will and should happend on its own if it has potential.

As others have said, you can't force a meme. It just happens.

Why would that be a meme, exactly? Nothing about it seems funny, and it only means something to you and your dad.

Memes are a complicated thing, a delicate balance between pure random luck of the draw or find and a quick and witty caption to go with it.

I would expect anything started with the sole intention of becoming a meme would likely fail at becoming one. Most memes are fairly unintentional.

It is night and houses hold
a hallowed hour of simple sweetness,
subtle glow at the core,
comfort framed within each window.

Inside, mothers invent lullabies
to hush their babies with lilting notes
neatly swathed in small blankets,
tenderly sung from rocking chairs.

Comforting songs stream across darkness
showing the way to infant dreams.
Innocent faces smile as though
angels whispered their mothers? voice.

There is a certain tranquility
within the refuge of these walls,
a torch passed grandmother to mother,
gifts of lyrics for each child

generations of selfless love
meted out in melody,
magic music meant to soothe
timeless singing across the years.

I realize that forced memes are generally horrorible, but if possible one of my friends and I would like to start a meme called "Broken Lamp". It is exactly what it is called and would simply feature a somehow humorous picture of a broken lamp.

You have to apply for a grant from the government. They will supply you with the tools you need to spread your jokes without having to make them funny.
