Aw yes, Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars miniseries. Man, I wish Grievous had been even half as badass in Revenge of the Sith :/

Is this that one with the hyiroglyphics of Anakin's robot hand grabbing Obi-wan and smashing him into the ground over and over? Yes? I LOVED THAT ONE

Grievous was such a baller. I remember they hyped him up so much in the previews for this show, and he definitely lived up to it.

This show was one of the best things that came from the prequels. Grievous actually seemed like a threat and was actually somewhat scary. Fast forward to Revenge of The Sith and... yeah Lucas turned him into a total joke.

Not to mention that Clone Wars was originally supposed to be the bridge between Episodes II and III, but then they decided to render it non canon and did a prequel novel instead(which was an alright book, and actually did explain Grievous' origin).

I am very much in the minority here but Grievous was the one thing I hated about the miniseries which, to date, is the only thing even slightly connected to the new movies that I liked.

I hated him because it was a further reduction in the power of both the Force and the Jedi. One of my biggest problems with the prequels was how crap Jedi seemed to be. They were droping left right and center. They are ment to be masters of the Force, the most powerfull thing in the universe that makes all life possable but a couple of droids can take one down?

Jedi train all their lives with the lightsaber and with the Force they have higtened reflexes to the point of clairvoyance yet some robot guy who has had all of a year of training and without the Force can take out 5 or 6, some of them considered Jedi Masters? If they are that easy to kill then what was the big deal about Jedi? What is the big deal about the Force?

Oh hell yes, I'm a big fan of this series. So much so, in fact, that I consider this, along with The Phantom Menace and Republic Commando, to be the only canonical things to have come out of the prequel trilogy and its myriad spin-offs.

It's a real shame that it's fallen into obscurity in recent years.

Glad too see that other people actually liked this series I was afraid that it would get lumped with all the other prequel material that people would like to consider non-canon.

I'd forgotten how bad ass this series was. Now all I need is the complete Samurai Jack and my weekend is sorted.

For me this was one of the best things to come out of the prequels, even if its at odds with the films in quite a few ways...

So far example it was always on the back of my mind that those clones you end up liking are all going to murder their jedi commanders without second thoughts with just 1 order, and end up being the stormtroopers that get killed on the 1st death stars explosion, what few survive will become the snowtroopers you see on hoth.
Hope they were retired by the time of Endor as it would be a really sad end to the clone troopers that they survived so much crap only to be butchered by a bunch of teddy bears armed with sticks and rocks.

Euh i digress, point being yeh clone wars is pretty cool.

I'll take your point and flip it around on you.

If Jedi are supposed to be so powerful then why is there even a war? Why are things spiraling out of control in the Galaxy? Why is their (all of them) foresight being clouded by ONE sith lord? Why in Attack of the Clones was Jango Fett able to go seemingly toe to toe with Obi Wan?

If they were as powerful as you make them out to be what sort of conflict is there to be had to make any kind of story interesting? Have you played any of the KOTOR games? KOTOR II specifically?

You ask what the big deal about the Jedi, or the force? Well I'd say there isn't a big deal...

Indeed. Despite my dislike of Episode II, I really enjoyed the segments with Jango Fett. Here you had a guy with no Force sensitivity that went toe-to-toe with Obi Wan (a Jedi who killed a Sith Lord when he was still a Padawan) and held his own using his wits, gadgets and experience.

Another video worth checking out if you're so inclined is Spoony's Counter Monkey episode "Jedi Hunter." For those who don't know, Counter Monkey is a series where Spoony talks about D&D style games and his experiences playing them. "Jedi Hunter" is a long video, but I still found it entertaining...and I don't really even care that much for such games.

Ok this is coming from someone who dislikes the jedi but heres my 2 cents.

1: half of the jedi with him were padawans, the novice level jedi,2 were knights, and only one was a master.

2: Jedi can deflect blaster bolts and ligthsaber strikes, as long as there is not more than 2 lightsabers or the blaster bolts are coming in tides or from every direction... Numbers beat skill. That and plot armour...

3: Jedi are not immortal, nor the greatest power on a scale, the Death star or plantery turbolaser is stronger than them in sheer power. But the jedi are the greatest most can get on a personal scale.

4: Its make the jedi more relatable, and Grievous more of a treat. If the jedi always lived and won then it would get dead boring really fast. Plus is one the best action ever in my books.

5: A droid can be programed with hyper fast reflexs too, and with 2-4 arms worth of lightsabers, plus since he was a cyborg and therefore had whatever knoweladge and skill he had beforehand along with what his new body gave him. Plus he did not charge diectly at them, it was a ambush after stomping one flat, and took care of them one by one. One got their neck snapped, with another being sent sky high, A 4th got slashed, and the last one was um "pushed by the aura of a lightsaber" shrug? Into a wall and knocked-out. Heck if the clones and gunship hadn't came there would have all died instead of the 3 that got away, and only by skin of their teeth.

That and Grievous is a badass in that series.

Grevious was trained by Count Dooku, the man who made Anakin and Kenobi look like chumps in the second prequel. He also played heavily on the psychological edge he had during the fight, utilizing 'fear, surprise and intimidation' to the point where he had the upper hand.

The force is a powerful tool, but it isn't god-like super-saiyan power. Against mooks it'll enable the wielder to carve through them effortlessly, against 'the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy' and 'expensive, trained, monster cyborg' however it isn't going ensure victory.

Seeing how I am a fan of Samurai Jack, I love the animated series, heck I own both of them on DVD. It's is far more superior to that current CGI series.
