Statistically speaking, how popular is My little Pony Fim?

Yes another pony thread, and before you groan and slap my in the face with a witty remark involving the search bar, this is not what you think.

A lot of people praise this show, myself included, and around here at least it seems to be a wildly popular phenomenon. But I was wondering if anyone knew anything factual about the show's popularity, statistics and figures and the like. You know like what the average age of a MLP FIM viewer is, or exactly how many fans outside of the target demographic exist.

In short, I just want some fancy sounding numbers that I can unleash in conversation about the show, and links to a source of any such facts would be an added bonus.

Well Equestria Daily http://www.equestriadaily.com/ just hit it's ten millionth hit, so it has to have a fairly decent sized following.

The extent of my knowledge on the subject is that it has a strong following outside of it's target demographic.
Very vague, but I'd hazard a guess to say that it may be more loved on the periphery demographic than it is in its 5-10 year old girl target range.

I'm not really sure though, I'm going by something I think I read.

I think last I checked the statistics were something to the effect of:

#1 watched show on the HUB for:

Women age 13-17
Men age 18-27
Men age 27-35

Go to any Youtube video of the show and click on the Statistics button. You'll get something like
"This video is most popular with:
Female 13-17
Male 18-24
Male 25-34"

(From here)

So 3326 people liked it?

I clearly have over estimated the herd.
That number is far too tiny to be accurate, I am more inclined to go by the number of veiws.

Not everyone bothers to hit the Like button. In fact, I hadn't until just now. Also, there are multiple uploads of each episode from different people.

A legitimate pony thread for once. I'm tempted to drop a meme bomb, but I won't for the sake of your rather interesting and discussion-worthy question.

I simply enjoy the show because of, well, a nostalgia factor I suppose. A lot of the team behind MLP worked on some of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid. Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls (yes, I liked that show), all of them rolled into one (sort of). Some of the voice actors for MLP also did work for the English dub of Black Lagoon, my absolute favorite anime, so that's more of a personal draw for me than anything. It also has enough cartoon humor reminiscent of Elmer Fudd and Daffy Duck without too much violence to make the show seem questionable.

The characters also radiate certain personalities that viewers can relate to and identify with:
-Twilight Sparkle, the bookworm
-Fluttershy, the timid tiger (for lack of a better term)
-Applejack, the hard worker
-Rainbow Dash, the competitor
-Pinkie Pie, the outgoing party hostess
I relate most to Fluttershy because like her, I'm pretty quiet and difficult to talk to, but if you piss me off...

For your info, if it's relevant:
I'm a 19 year old male college student and I've seen every episode. I even have Fluttershy's RAGE as my ringtone.

I for one have never used the like button intentionally and never plan to.

This isn't that kind of thread.

Actually, the information is relevant when it comes to analyzing the strange popularity. The fact that the archetypes are easy to identify and sympathize with is actually a very good point in that respect. In any case it makes for an interesting discussion.

I am almost afraid to ask, what is a meme bomb? I know what a meme is.

I wonder why is is more popular amongst men (18-35) and young girls... Does it say something about the male psychology? I personally watched the first episode and really don't get it. If I had a child, I would certainly approve of them watching it, but I really don't care for such things.

What's with all these captchas? I have never seen a straight up forum with a bot problem. I've seen plenty of automatic messages in small, neglected comments sections, but not in forums.

I think it says that men are not nearly as tough and cold as society wants them to be. Good thing? Who knows, but my cosmic overlords will certainly find that interesting.

I'd argue that liking ponies doesn't necessarily make a person less tough. In fact, being able to admit to liking them might count as a bonus.

Well you wanted statistics and numbers, where as you can find why people like the show in over twenty threads created in the past two months. Seems redundant to post why people like it since the info is already readily available.

How popular is it? Don't know don't care. All I know is that it's a great show and people need to stop being insecure about watching it.

The female statistics are expected, but the male statistics...

Damn.
