Children are more likely to be sexually assulted by their parents than by a complete stranger. News hype throws everything out of prospective.

The saying "Having the edge" comes from Roman times, the Romans forged their weapons from Iron, as a cause of this the blade had a sharp edge rather than the good old bronze weapons that were limited to a sharp tip for thrusting. This gave them a huge advantage in battle alongside their training and armor.

You are 6 times more likely to do harm to yourself then a random person harming you.
Or so they say.

It's physically impossible for a human being to lick their elbow.
35 percent of people who hear this will attempt to lick their elbows.

The "Rule of Thumb" originally referenced the size of rod you could beat your wife with.

80-90% of all "interesting facts" that have been posted in similar threads to this, are bullshit. (That's an estimate, I'm not going to count)

Case in point:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thumb#Thumb_used_for_regulation
You're wrong. Completely and utterly. There has NEVER EVER EVER EVER been a law that states that.

This'll be the third thread like this I've posted in, maybe I'll get lucky: Please, check your facts.

I had a history teacher tell me that a number of years ago. He is far more credible than the internet.

I have a whole book full of these.

If anyone's actually interested, I'll be happy to dig a few up, as I'm far too lazy to go grab the book without any reason to.

But one that I can recall off the top of my head, it's illegal to go whaling in Kansas.
I think.
It's one of those states in that area.

Ah, yeah, because that history teacher certainly didn't learn this 'fact' from one of those widely-circulating emails that do not cite sources or anything, right?

Right. He wouldn't teach it if that is where he got it.

[small]What is the book called?[/small]
No, it's one of the states in Tornado Alley, I know that much....

*Ahem*
Code:
A car is stolen every thirty seconds in the United States...
Most fatal car accidents happen on Saturday...
The average person keeps old magazines for twenty-nine weeks before they throw them out...
The average person will spend two weeks over their lifetime waiting for the traffic lights to change...
It is estimated that at any one time, o.7 percent of the world's population are drunk...
You're more likely to be killed by a champagne cork than a poisonous spider...
Twelve babies will be given to the wrong parents each day...
And the list goes on, in The Book of Useless Information!

Because Wikipedia is SUCH a truthful source

***Goes onto random page and changes information***

There, now Germany won WWI, it is on wikipedia so it MUST be true.
