Well recently I bought Sniper Elite AGAIN, but this time for the PC, and god getting it again just made me realise how much I missed that game. In my opinion there has never been a more realistic sniper game made. Here's some of it's features for the uninitiated:

Practically real bullet physics - You have to take into account distance, posture, wind direction/speed to make good shots.

Excellent AI - The AI on this game was pretty damn good, the enemy will try different ways to find you each time you play it and are incredibly accurate when responding to fire (it should be mentioned that sometimes they are a bit TOO accurate, especially on the harder difficulties).

Headshot!! - Whenever you make a "special" shot, the one's that come to mind are, long distance headshot's, moving target, two for one, etc you get a bullet cam, which follows it into it's unlucky victim. And making these shots earns you "points of fame" which is just a good way of comparing how well you did a mission compared to a friend.

Co-Op - The game really shines in it's co-op mode, I have some real fond memories playing this game through with one of my old friends on the PS2 version, and it adds a whole new depth of planning to the game. Unfortunately, the servers for the PC version aren't there any more, so online play is no longer available.

Of course there are some bad points about the game, like I mentioned, some of the enemies seem to have sniper scopes fitted to stupidly accurate SMG's, but I'll forgive it for that because it forces you to take your time, and actually think your way through a level, which I think is something that games really need to start doing these days. Keeping that in mind, this does make the game slow paced, which might not be every one's cup of tea.

What really makes me sad is the fact that this is probably going to be the last one, the closest I've seen to a remake was a game called "Sniper: Art of Victory", which was absolutely terrible, seriously don't let the cheap price tag draw you in, it's a bug ridden, linear, sniper elite rip off (not that I'd mind a GOOD sniper elite rip off, but come on, at least do it well!) with terrible AI, and seriously I can't emphasise the badness of this game enough.

Well in conclusion, I suppose what I'm trying to say is if you want a good, hard, realistic sniper game, look no further than sniper elite, and with it being quite old now, you can find it cheap and it'll run on prety old computers (or get the PS2 version, they're both exactly the same, except the graphics are a bit better on the PC version).

Oh yeah and this is also a plea, TO MAKE A SECOND ONE!! DO IT NOW REBELLION!!!!! *pulls angry face*.

Never played this before, but will check it out now. Seems fun and always wanted to play a realistic sniper game.

Sniper Elite was awesome! I remember playing co-op and my friend tried to shoot some soldiers in the groin, but hit their grenade instead and blew him to pieces...Good stuff :)
