Ok for the Past month or so all I have seen on most forums are threads about something Wong with steam or someone complaining becaues steam dident do something, or if a games not on steam let's boicot it and some other things I don't quite get why people complain. Now I'm mostly a console gamer and I enjoy some tf2 on the pc from time to time, so can some one tell me why all the hate/rage thing at games on steam. Or is it the whole drm thing? Or should I just ignore it all?

On the internet one thing you should know offhand is that people are ready to sling shit over anything. Steam, as great as it is, is no exception.

As for Steam and me, just imagine me skipping through a flower medow holding hands with a Steam logo.

Now user experience with Steam varies from person to person, chances are the monkey whos anti-Steam turd you have just examined is someone who did not have a good time with it.

My personal relationship with steam is great. I"m using two of my friends accounts basically just for L4D and TF2. I have my own but im not sure what the name is and I've got games on it i got for free but my computer isn't good enough to play them. I haven't spent money on steam but from what I can see they always have sales and TF2 is free with constant updates. Same goes for L4D minus the free-ness. Though i enjoy an incomplete Steam experience it seems all good to me as a console/PC gamer.

Steam really hates me sometimes, but I'll never cease to love it because no matter how badly it fucks up I can always forgive it because the peeps at Valve are awesome and so is their cutesy black little platform.

It's not all that cheap so I shop in cheaper places.

I can afford Steam I just don't see why I should pay their prices when I can get it for £10 cheaper at Amazon or in town.

Plus I just like to have hard copies of my games.

It's because Steam is DRM and most people hate it, it's an unnecessary extra program running in the background and has a crappy offline mode that doesn't work half the time also making a constant internet connection practically necessary, and you are still forced to use it if you want some PC games. On a retail end, it has terrible customer support, high normal prices, and a disturbing EULA. But, Steam fanboys will blindly refuse to acknowledge anything from Valve including Steam, can be wrong, and tend to vocally defend it even as they hate on other retailers for the same things.

Well of course they didn't have a good time with it. Even in a case as hardcore as a dictatorship, it's hard to find people on the upside who will complain. That hardly invalidates the complaints.

I've been a member of Steam for going on three years now, and I have yet to have a single problem with it.

The individual games themselves have had several problems (damn you, TF2... As fun as you are, you're a ***** sometimes), true, but the client and service itself has never given me any grief.

I personally love Steam. I can get a lot of games on there for less money than other places, some games that I can't get in retail stores, and it's awfully convenient. Plus their sales tend to be great.

I never said it did invalidate anything. Though it kind of would if a problem people were having was unique to them.

Even then if i got paid one buck for every person who complains about a problem that they cant fix and has not checked customer support id be set for life.

Quite simply, if a lot of people like it, many others will hate it. People do it just to be contrary. I even find myself guilty of it from time to time, till I get my act strait anyway. I hated on Origin, which isn't actually bad, but I came to realize I just hate EA. Origin is probably the most beneficial thing for gamers EA has done in a long time.

Back OT: I have never had an issue with Steam, and it's my digital platform of choice simply because I have 194 games on it. People hate it just to hate. It's a shame really.

I love Steam. There's very little overhead, the games are well documented, Valve has sales all the time, and it's really easy to use. All the games I want to play (that are on the PC) are on Steam, with the notable exception of EA's current games. And EA left Steam, not because steam was treating them poorly, but because EA seems to have developed a fear of money and success. And because they suck the big hairy one.

It's mostly the fact that they're screwing over European gamers but everyone seems to forget about that. Then there's the problem of actually having to run their client in order to access my games. Come to think of it, why should I have to use an account tied to their system in order to play the games I bought? Apart from being a platform for Indie games to get noticed I see Steam as nothing more than a form of intrusive DRM. In fact, with the advent of Minecraft and its success I'm starting to doubt the whole "platform for indie games" thing.

i LOVE steam, purely because all my games are

A) FREE
B)on Xbox/Disk for PC/PS2
or C) TF2...

i have nothing against it because i have no reason to, the only reason i have a steam account if for the forums and for TF2 =]

I think people who aren't happy with Steam are really in the minority (on this site at least).
Also, your spelling/ grammar is atrocious.

i see hat you mean, but i am disinclined to hate on Steam because it's owned by Valve, the creators of TF2 AND Portal... but they DO screw over us with later releases than consoles and the rest, but still the only thing that keeps me from being a PC gamer is my laptop... why? because it can't run MineCraft with the Yogbox modpack installed at higher than 16fps, and spends 80% of the time on 3 or less frames...

That doesn't excuse what's currently happening on Steam.

I refer you to that thread to see why I went from being cautiously optimistic with Steam, to downright pissed-off and getting robbed by Valve.
