I just tried to download the half life 2 demo and it keeps motherfucking pausing!!! I click resume and it just won't fucking load! Can I remove it or restart the download somehow? This is seriously frustrating as you have probably guessed...

Have you tried restarting Steam? I've had this happen before and restarting Steam and/or the computer usually helped. Otherwise, just leave it be overnight and it should be loaded when you wake up.

if you launch any game on steam during a download, the download pauses and won't always restart. just restart steam, that should fix it.
OK, I restarted multiple times, have no games running and it always stops loading after half a second and says "suspended"
When in your Library tab, hit downloads (should be one of the links on the sub-menu below library, community etc.) From there you can cancel any other downloads trying to run and force HL to download.
