Steam Help, Pretty Please?

Finally downloaded Mass Effect, but whenever I click the desktop shortcut or access it using the Steam library, the message pops up 'Preparing to launch Mass Effect' disappears and... ...nothing happens. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate and even running it as administrator doesn't make it work. Help?

I googled your problem and one person said it was fixed by him turning of uac so might be worth a try?

and another person wrote this

"same thing happened to me, do this:


exit steam and make sure you also close it from your tray

right click the shortcut or exe file for steam and got to properties then compatibility

when you are there check the box that says "run as administrator"

after you have done that go into program files x86 then go to steam\steamapps\yourname\common

from there you should be able to find the mass effect.exe you will need to do the same thing you did to the steam.exe."
