So I just got Steam a week ago when I finally got a computer strong enough to run games (Yay MacBook Pro! Yes, I know it's not a PC, but it beats what I had by lightyears. Seriously, it couldn't run the battles in Medieval 2. That was torture).

Anyway, I've been buying games using my credit card, but for some reason, this last purchase didn't go through. As far as I know, I'm way below my limit for the month (this is the first time I used my credit card) but it keeps telling me the company won't accept the charges. This is the fourth game I've bought today, and in a short period of time, but I didn't think that would be a problem.

Does anyone have any idea what is happening. Should I just wait and try again tomorrow, or is there something I can fix? And is there any way this is a Steam thing and not a problem with my credit card (I'd really prefer to not deal with American Express if I don't have to do so).

I appreciate the help in advance

Remember, google is your friend. That's what I always tell my friends when they ask such things.

Though really, Da_Schwartz is right, try asking on the Steam forums.

You should probably be asking steam..not the escapist.
But that would make too much sense... :p

Excellent point. Going there now. Feel free to ignore this pointless thread if you so choose.

If I were to take a guess, I'd say the credit card company may have put a hold on your funds because of "Suspicious purchasing."

This.

I had the same thing happen to me during Christmas when steam had a huge sale everyday for like 2 weeks. Just call your credit card provider.

Likely this, I have a feeling your company will be calling you soon.
