Steam meltdown?

Anyone else having problems connecting to Steam at the moment? Forums also seem to be down on my end and I'm wondering if it's just me...

No, just noticed it myself. Can't Synchronize with the Steam-cloud, and I can't view my profile. Can still play games offline, though. But can't play online via Steam.

I had problems a while ago, I think it lasted about an hour, 5:00 'till 6:00 UK time.

Seems to be back up now.

Steam has a thread on their forums dedicated to downtime. Based on the time you posted this it seems to match up with some maintenance they were doing and which then required them to replace some faulty hardware.

Makes sense, but usually wouldn't they warn people beforehand? Like, put something on news, or have something pop up when you start steam?

Not that I've ever seen, no. I only know about the downtime thread because I went searching for answers one time when Steam dropped out for a few hours and I was wondering what happened.
