My computer is a Mac running the newest version of OSX, since I assume this will be important.

1. My Copy of Team Fortress 2 (free version) is corrupted in some way. (When I open it, many things appear as wireframes or are missing, and I can't join a game. Also, almost every time I open Steam it downloads either TF2 or something for it for a few seconds.) If this can be fixed easily, how? If not, how do I reinstall TF2, or any Steam game for that matter?

2. Steam still hasn't downloaded the Civilization V hotseat patch that came out in July. Is it just not out for Mac yet or is something actually wrong? If so, can I manually search for updates somehow?

Whatever, just wash your hands.
well to uninstall a steam game you right click it and select "delete local content" and that will uninstall it, you could also try right clicking on the game and select properties then local files then verify integrity of the game cache, that might help it also

you can also select the updates under properties and make sure its set to always keep the game up to date and view the update history
