So ive been playing Mass Effect lately and it seems that whenever i start up the game my frame rates are really bad for about 5-10 minutes and then seem to catch up and jump to like 50ish. This doesn't happen with any other games, as i run really high frame rates with everything else on steam. I have 2 SLi 8800 GTS so I am wondering if there is something about the game itself that is messing with my frame rates.

It might be a flaw with the Steam version and it's interaction with SLI drivers

Yeah. Quick Google search gives me hits involving problems with framerates and de-interlaced video with multi-GPU setups. Try updating your Nvidia Drivers, and DirectX if you're using DX9.

Got up to date drivers. Maybe ill just have to turn off SLi to play Mass Effect? Ya i was google searching it but only came up with 360 problems.

You could try that. A single 8800 should be more than powerful enough to run Mass Effect at 60FPS.
