Went ahead and bought New Vegas in the end.

Awesomenauts is on sale for $0.99 (90%), my god, too bad its a moba/arts/assfaggots, I already have Dota 2, so that's enough "90% vitriolic seething hatred 10% moments of gold" for me.

On another note, does anyone know of a moba where the developers actually care about bots and AI? Or are at least willing to outsource them to 3rd party modders?

Does it strike anyone else as suspicious that the blue team is probably going to win today? I mean, of the five days (counting today), each team will have won once. With only another five days in the sale, will anyone be surprised if they each win one more time?

I mean, yeah, it's a great tactic to get people to spend more and participate in the sale, but I'd rather we got credit for voting and earning achievements like in previous sales as opposed to only being eligible for the random giveaway if we've earned points (read: spent money).

Its because there is a huge campaign on reddit to make each team win twice. Its a reddit war at this point.

You're quite late to the party I see.
The contest is rigged, just google it on Reddit and you'll see how they're manipulating it, there's another thread somewhere discussing this very issue and the amount of drama it has caused.

Quite frankly, this is my first Steam Sale, so I don't have any expectations, but after experiencing this one, the bar has been set quite low for me.

I don't know which is worse: Valve rigging it or making a system that could be so easily manipulated. Either way, still not happy at how much money this is probably causing people to throw away compared to just offering really good discounts and other incentives to participate in the sale.

Up until now I always thought the sales were more about the games rather than this meta garbage.

I wouldnt say the sale is about this little contest. It is easily ignored and there is nothing forcing you to spend money on it.

Just let the people on reddit do their thing and youll have 2 chances to win some games. Not so bad.

Well its not bad for us at all now (in fact its actually good for us because of the side income from cards), but the fact that they've done something like this goes to show that they're standards have dropped, we can only hope one of the most incorruptible developers on earth won't go further down.

From what I've read, previous sales were about buying games, and actually playing those games for achievements to participate in events, I'm not sure, but that sounds so much better.

I see where your coming from and honestly the conest won't have any real impact on how I interact with the sale; it just makes me sad to see people taken advantage of in such a manner. It reminds me too much of those shady mmos where the devs use skinner box psychology to keep people playing and spending money on what is essentially nothing.

As far as a chance to win those free games (which is where my complaint about only people that spend enough money to either craft a badge or earn points otherwise comes in), I never actually expect to win these sorts of things; it's like those pop giveaways where one person in the whole world can win whatever fabulous grand prize they have despite astronomical odds (maybe someone does win, but I know it sure as hell isn't going to be me).

The prob with that whole debacle was/is that in the beginning it was going to be 'pure purple' I believe theres a post somewhere on the escapist now where it was shown. Basically, it was going to be rigged so that 'only' purple wins. Henceforth why some decided thats not fair, and are splitting up the wins to 2 each.

I do believe that takes quite a team effort to do. So basically, you'll have 2 chances to win then regardless of your team hehe. In comparison to before where if you werent on purple, 0 chance to win.

(just saying it incase anyone wants a short and fast clarification of why Reddit is popping up so much in the discussions about the steam summer sales.)

I would love to see them focus on the games that go on sale more. The simple fact that games like Nether and Dayz get put on the sale are pretty indicative that valve dont really give a shit anymore.

Kind of depressing.

Double post, but ho! I just found out Dark Souls PTD edition is on sale, HOORAY for GFWL and region locks! It's like everyday the daily deals have 1 box missing (8 instead of 9), I've gotten so used to it that I seldom even notice it anymore.

You called it. Blue is way in the lead today ... thank god too. I was placed on blue and for five days straight- our team kept losing horribly. Now they're actually dominating so this contest is literally rigged.. if each team's supposed to win at least once.I'm not mad, but I don't understand why Valve even had this contest in the first place lol.
Valve is getting a cut of all those cards and items they are selling and only have to pay out some free games to 30 winners.
