With the problems EA are having over the launch of Sim City, it appears steam are trying to pick up the pieces, and some money, by offering an alternative experience that actually works, and for a very low price.

Long may it last.

Pretty sure the publishers set the prices and when things go on sale, not Steam. Still, thanks for pointing this out, I wouldn't have even noticed.

It's a mixture, both companies have to come to an agreement

GOG trolled them better.

GOGcom ‏@GOGcom

Server problems? DRM-free SimCity 2000 needs no internet to play AND it's only $5.99 http://j.mp/WuweEO #simcity
From their twitter.

I think that's overpriced for a game that came out close to twenty years ago.

Not as overpriced as an $80 game that won't be playable in less than ten.

Ooo, that's nice to know. Tropic 3 was a great little game and the only reason I never picked up 4 was because of reviews saying it was pretty much the exact same as 3, but seeing as I haven't played that in quite some time and this would come with all the DLC....

Tempting. Very tempting.

The base game of 4 pretty much is the same as 3. But the entire lot is only 10 bucks right now, and modern times alone is normally twenty. That's fair price to upgrade IMO. Plus you can get those overpriced little DLC packs guilt free. Kinda wish I held out for the complete bundle.

I agree with you. I'd rather have the SimCity 2000 than the new one anyway but I still think it's two or three times the price I'd pay for it.
