Steam "Unexpected Error"

So people, I tried to buy the Valve Complete Pack so I could finally play Half-Life 2 , TF2, Left 4 Dead, and Counterstrike.

So I had filled in the credit card information, and moved onto the next screen with the purchase button. "THIS IS IT!"I thought, I was all excited.

BUT THEN THERE WAS AN ERROR MESSAGE!
It went more or less like this. "There has been an unexpected error.Please contact Steam support"

So I contacted Steam, it has been about an hour now with no reply. So I turn to you, oh almighty PC Gamers on the Escapist!

Has my card been billed?
What should I do now? I really want to play TF2, Portal, L4D, Half-Life etc.

I successfully bought the complete pack not too long ago, just check your billing statement. If your card has been billed, it should show in your account information.

This is why I turned away from the dark side of PC gaming. Once you hit the purchase button, your card has most likely been billed. It's going to take a while before anyone actually does anything to help you. It took me a week to make Fallout 3 work.

Damn... This isn't looking good...

Anyone else have a similar experience that they would like to share?
Any help would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Also, I've decided that after I get this sorted out and get my games and all that I won't buy off steam anymore, this is my first Steam purchase and isn't exactly the simple "click a few buttons, wait a bit, and play your game in peace" process I was expecting.

OK a little harsh, but somebody else said pretty much the same thing. Valve is a good company, the customer service is also excellent. But you need to wait, as Valve is also a small company with a huge customer base. They don't exactly hire the biggest Customer Support Squad.

Yes I know they are not directly linked, but same applies.

If your card has been charged you will receive the games upon when the customer service gets to you.

So what planet do you live on where e-mails to customer service are returned within two and a half hours, especially during the Christmas season?

You know I've been having this problem, and contacted Steam support yesterday (20th) in the morning. No response yet. How long can I expect to wait? Also, when it did work, my credit card was turned down because apparently the billing address was wrong.
Not only that, but when I tried to pay with PayPal, the link to the PayPal website doesn't work.

Your card has most likely not been billed. Just check with your bank online to see if the card has or hasn't been billed. Credit Cards usually bill well within an hour. Steam purchasing has been a bit iffy lately. It took me a good 6-7 tries to finally get Garry's Mod purchased. I also remember a similar situation with Left 4 Dead pre-order. I was never billed by Valve unless I actually had a successful purchase, though.

I'm having similar issues trying to buy Black Ops, it hasn't billed me (from what I've seen) but the weird thing is that the game has appeared in my library. I'm just not allowed to install it or actually pay for it. Weird.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! ive literally tried 11 times to buy garry'smod + counterstrike: source and this message keeps coming up "an unexpected error has occurred. Please contact steam support."
please help im in america and it doesnt work. I've tried 2 different types of credit cards and a paypal account. I have no clue why it doesnt work, I've bought this game before like 3 years ago and it worked fine. Now that I had to get a new account, of course it doesn't work. Someone please help

Contact Steam support and wait.
They have a couple of million users, forgive them if they don't get to you within a day or two.

alright but idk what to tell them. It would help if they had a phone number to call but unfortunately, all they have is the annoying tickets. Its just a little annoying how I'm finally prepared to buy the game, and of course an "unexpected error has occurred". Im just kinda pissed is all

I really hope that's not true since I tried eighteen times. I hope they just send ONE game to my account. Or i just hope that the "error" goes away

Why are you talking to us? Go to the Steam forums and ask them, they probably know more about Steam than us.

And are you buying the pack, or as seperate games?

Well I asked three different questions to the steam support via the support tickets, and still no reply (I'm not suprised. I've had another account where my questions were never answered).

Also, I'm trying to buy Garry's mod + counterstrike: source (the package).

(CONTINUED) I forgot to mention that I tried going on steam forums. Of course, I'll probly have to wait about a week before my "account gets authorized by an administrator".

Steam is really, really pissing me off. I have to wait just to post and ask questions on the forums, so I can't get my questions answered there. Steam support sucks so that wont work.

I mean come on already. I have never had to go through such a painful transaction in my life. Howcome every other website I've bought products off are simple and fast. This I thought would be easier because the games are immediately sent to your steam account. But of course there just has to be a problem.

I'm sorry if I seem annoyed right now, but its just a little frustrating. There is basically nobody for me to turn to since steam support doesn't help and I can't post on their forums.
