can you play a game while Steam is downloading it? I want to play the free L4D but it's still downloading, but I noticed that the icon is still there...

If it's not all on your harddrive, you can't play it. Simple as that mate.

Steam does sometimes have this rather pesky bug in which the game shows as downloading (this is only with an update), is already done but still showing. It will fix itself the moment you click it and try to launch it.

If you're not updating but still downloading the basic game itself, you should wait. Steam has no support for playing incompletely downloaded games.

It is ok, 24 hours i all you need to get over l4d... being someone who didnt buy it and have only just played it during this free peroid, and is happy that i didnt waste my money.... so boring...

Well... don't think you can really compair tf2 to l4d but the first DLC for l4d was free cos it was basically a rehash of the old maps and just added a new mode.

Basically, I fucking love Survival. It's very, very fun. Especially with 3 friends. It's insane.

Well... don't think you can really compair tf2 to l4d but the first DLC for l4d was free cos it was basically a rehash of the old maps and just added a new mode.

Doesn't mean that they didn't add something new... and with the release of the SDK comin' up, modders are gonna be frothing at the mouth to mess with it.

In earlier versions of Steam I remember being capable of playing a game before it was completely downloaded. When I first downloaded Half-Life 1 off of steam I remember being able to play it before the game was completely downloaded. I don't know why the feature was removed but I assume it's because they've run into problems.

survival is good aslong as you play it with friends

L4D doesn't work properly on my comp, because Steam wont run on my good comp, only my slow, old one I'll still try and get it, just not from Steam.

First off, please fix your post. It's messed up, it should look like this ;D

But yes, they aren't. I'm just making the point that new stuff will continually be released for it... and Survival mode headlines that for me.
