so iv been downloading a game from steam about 2.6gb in but when i checked my usage and add up metered and unmetered it says iv used twice that i have turned off auto up dates and wasnt using my internet at all while it was downloading.
i have steam watch and whitelisted gamearena servers only but only get about 30% unmetered.
so im wondering why bigpond (sigh i know) is saying iv used twice as much as steam does
also if its possible to get all downloads from steam unmetered i read a couple of forums but they were all outdated and disagreed about whether it could be done.
i only get 50gb a month so its a problem, im 8 days in and have used more than half that :/

so your thoughts and advice

You'd probably be best using the Whirpool forums for advice here. They are Australian and they would understand your ISP and your situation better than anyone here most likely could.

I'd try Freys Steam Filter, I get better results with that than Steamwatch.

Personally I blame Telstra. Bad enough they used to try and add extra calls onto our bills which was never made to or from our connection, then demanded we pay $10 charge for the actual list of calls to be printed. :|

yeah /rage we had no internet for 1-2 weeks 3! times in a space of about 2 and a half months because of a mistake on their end but they keep saying no you must have done something "i havent touched it" have you tried unpluging it at the wall and pluging it back in. yes, well ill put you on to somebody else.

as soon as the contracts up im making sure we go with internode :)
