This seems interesting. Provided that it handles well and that the hardware is powerful enough I maybe could see it for simple, short games, many of the indie variety. But the really interesting idea would propably be to use this as an inhouse streaming receiver. WiiU did it, Sony did remote play on the Vita. Lets see where this goes. Won't hype yet, but i'll watch this.

Meh. The only handheld gaming I need is on my phone.

PS1 emulator, GBA emulator. Looks sorted to me.

This shit. I want it.
Having access to my Steam library on the go (without having to lug around a heavy laptop)? Can't think of many things that would be more convenient.

Male gender pronoun? 0/10 racist and sexist will not buy. Reblogged.

In all seriousness, still havent tried those touchpad... things that replace the control sticks, but if that does end up being a colossal flop this wont have the same fallback of "well at least i can plug my xbox controller into it" that the other machines have.

If it can play the backlog of indie platformers I have built up (Stuff like Guacamelee and Giana Sisters) I will be more than happy to get one. The 3DS may be the better platform, but I already have a hundred games I'd use with a Steamboy if I could get one.

Even if this specific toy does't get made, I'm sure somebody will put one together sooner or later.

This sounds kind of awesome. I think there is a good chance that in a few years Steam will be giving the big three a serious run for their money.

Steamboy? It's a good movie.

Seriously though, I'd love to play my indie backlog on a mobile device. I just hope it's up to it... and you know, gets an actual release, and isn't sued into the ground, and hopefully plays more than just steam games on that linux distro, because I've got some great DRM-free games with low system requirements...

Oh who am I kidding, I'm just gonna wind up buying a $2000 gaming laptop that will run all my games instead anyway.

This looks pretty awesome, although there's one thing. Some games won't work without a mouse and keyboard, and those games won't be able to run on the thing with a complete control scheme. So you won't be able to play games like The Witcher and older games like System Shock 2 and Deus Ex properly. Also, you probably won't be able to run games that have steep system requirements, unless the thing supports streaming, (which it hopefully will, or new games will have to run on minimum settings at sub-30 fps). All that said though, I'll probably buy one since a touch screen means you'll be able to play most strategy games, and indie games with low system requirements that work with controllers (Super Meat Boy, VVVVVV, etc.) will also be playable. Civilization and the next rage platformer on the go? I'm sold.

Assuming this isn't bullshit (which it more than likely is) that thing looks god awful. Awkward shape, and my GOD that dpad looks atrocious! Even if it was a single piece of plastic instead of four separate buttons they are WAY too small/far apart.
