Good for Stephen. I'm sure the Cancel Colbert morons over on Tumblr are shitting themselves right about now.

Well, it stinks that we will lose the Colbert Report now. On the other hand, the Late Show could be funny again. All well, I'll always have Jon Stewart.
Yea, better the Report than the Daily. Colbert couldn't keep doing that character. Eventually the Fauxnews characters he's parodying will fall into obscurity as their viewers die off. His show would've eventually become irrelevant. He's ingenious and will do well with Letterman's old post.
What I'm wondering is will they move up @ midnight and if so, what will they call it then?

I'm waiting for the Report!Colbert to weigh in on this. Today's Thursday, and they're taping it in an hour or so, so tonight we may hear more.

...a pretty damn good idea. Man's got talent, so even if he's not doing it in his Report voice, doing it at all with his moxie has got to be a show worth seeing.

I would totally watch a Late Night with Stephen Colbert show. I never cared for David Letterman, but I swear to God if they Conan him, I will be beyond pissed.

They won't do that. CBS doesn't have the same habit of screwing over their own shows that NBC does, Letterman isn't nearly as self-centered as Leno, and he's actually retiring rather than just moving to a different show. I think Colbert is safe.

P.S. Thanks

I imagine Colbert himself is probably getting a little tired of the character as well.
It seems to be that way since he is doing his jokes literally tongue-in-cheek. Every other episode, he laughs at how stupid his character has become. It's like he has stretched like a rubber band and is shivering near the breaking point. It would be interesting to see him "spring back" by being as liberal as possible; he has hinted at it by inviting activists and scientists to his show.

Wait a minute... that means we will never finish "Better Know a District". But we only 350 districts left to go... we were so close.

I always thought Colbert was a funny guy out of Character as well, so I am kinda looking forward to this. Although I am kind of annoyed since late night is alot harder to watch overseas because they region block more then comedy central does.

Really? Surprised CBS would choose Colbert, in light of the recent calls to cancel the Colbert Report.
The only people who are calling to cancel Colbert Report are right-wing nutjobs that are ticked off he's making fun of Republicans, CNN News, and Fox News. It's not all too hard, honestly, and even the Daily Show's John Stewart does it too.

I'm glad Colbert is getting a more main-channel show....however, it will mean he's going to be hounded by censors more and more.
I always associated the behavior of the CancelColbert movement to be something the extreme left does. Hell, I'd expect the extreme right-wingers to have dropped the line that Colbert took flak for, but unironically.

I didn't watch it before, but now that Colbert is part of it, I REALLY won't watch it.

This kind of bums me out. The Stephen Colbert I fell in love with--not the character, but the comedian--is one I do not think will thrive in restrictive atmosphere of network television.

Who says that an hour long Daily Show would be a bad thing?
Jon Stewart might. If I was in his shoes, I don't think I'd want my workload doubled.

Ferguson wasn't interested in moving up, then, or did CBS just give him the shaft?
Have you seen Craig Ferguson's show? I think everybody can agree he's best left to a time-slot where he's free to be batshit crazy.

While I'll miss the Report, Stephen is a funny guy and I'm happy for him. Does this mean that I'm gonna have to start pronouncing his surname correctly now? Because that's gonna feel weird. Come to that, Stephen being himself is gonna feel weird.

Not sure how I feel about this one. On one hand, this opens up a whole lot more material for him to have (instead of being largely tied to political stuff), but on the other hand, I don't think I've ever seen him do comedy out of character, so I have no clue as to what to expect for the quality.

Either way, sucks that this means no more Colbert Report. Really is a whole lot better than the Daily Show.

Huh, this is my first time hearing of something like this. Pretty neat.

I'll miss the Colbert Report a little bit, but it'll be nice to see him out of character for once, plus it'll be interesting seeing his brand of Comedy brought to an actual talk show. Plus, I've always been a bit more of a Daily Show guy anyway, so... *shrugs*.

The only question now is what's taking the 10:30 slot? Having a political comedy hour worked so perfectly for so long, and now that John Oliver is at HBO, there's not many contenders to make another show. So what're they gonna do? It'll be interesting to see how they handle this.
