A small tribute that has been simply titled "Thanks Steve"

Brilliant and it brings a tear to my eyes. He was a true visionary and a model to follow. What more to say than that a great man has passed and anyone who pretends to be uncaring just deserves that treatment when they themselves are pushing up the daisies.

I think it's interesting to note that most comments in this thread begin with "I don't like Apple" or something similar. I can't tell you how impressed I was to read, up until this post, people remain mostly respectful. Steve Jobs isn't just defined by what you choose or choose not to buy, he was also family and friend to many, as well as a human being. I don't mean to sound trite or sappy by saying such, just, please, a man died.

I can't tell you how impressed I was to read, up until this post, people remain mostly respectful. No offense to ike42, who is considers Steve's patent polices death worthy. (Or close enough, really)

If Apple didn't existed Bill Gates, without string competence, would be our one and only emperor. Windows wouldn't be half of good looking (it isn't as good looking as Mac OS now). And mobile devices wouldn't be so popular.

I won't report you because i'd rather you to think about it and realize that you should have been more respectful even if you don't like/care about his products than for you to be warned.

I didn't personally know him, nor am I draped in black or crying today. I simply point out that, while yes, people die everyday, let's not be callous about it for the sake of being callous.

The guy's legacy is nothing more than creating user friendly systems, however people don't seem to care that he has also made all of these systems extremely closed and controlled to the point Apple can simply decide they don't like a certain program and remove it from not only their network and servers, but literally clean it from your harddrive.

To me, that really isn't someone I would mourn about. Call me callous, call me a dick, I won't miss his "innovation" in this world.

Not liking him, nor thinking his innovations were unimportant isn't callous. Arbitrarily writing "iDontgiveafuck" like a smart ass in response to the announcement of someone's death is. And that's what started this discussion.

Well, you won't report him because it's petty and a misuse of the red button. You don't have any authority to dole out potential imaginary punishments to people who you deem to be breaking imaginary rules.

He died yesterday, 30 seconds is an acceptable grieving time for someone whom you meant nothing to.
