Still worth getting a 360?

I'm seeing lots of threads torn over whether or not to get a PS4 or a PS3 to get some exclusives they missed during Gen 7. Not a heck of a lot about 360 though.

I did have one that died before I could play Halo 4. I moved on. My boy didn't and just got a used 360 cheap. I figure I'll get to play 4 now, cheap, so what the heck.

Did you or anyone you know get a 360 this year? Why? What sort of things can we still look forward to?

Or is there a reason so few asking if they should still get one of these? Is it dead already? If so, I won't invest anything further in it for him. If it is still worth while, I might get him a few things I think he needs.

I really wouldnt say dead already (it somewhat is with exclusives), and since I dont know what they are priced now I cant really say how worthy they are but if someone never played the 360 exclusives and can find it rather cheap I think its totally worth it. The Gears of War series are great for anything, singleplayer, multiplayer (even offline) and co-op. Halo is also good for the same reasons, then there is still Forza and Project Gotham Racing for the driving fans and a bunch of other gems (Crackdown, Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie remakes, Tenchu Z if you are into co-op ninja stealth, Ace Combat 6 and some other XBLA games)

There's little or nothing to look forward to in it's future.
If there are many games that came out of it you want to play, go for it. Neither the PS4 nor the Xbox One are backward compatible, so if you want to play those games, you'll need the old system. If you really don't care about the 360 exclusives and own a different system to play the non exclusives, then it's not worth your money.

It also has the best version of Bayonetta, so there's that.

If you can find it at a reasonable price, it's probably worth it. I can't see it getting any more exclusives but it still has a decent library.

I loved Forza 3 and I hear 4 is even better than the Gran Turismo games on PS3. I may pick that up as well as Halo 4.

That is a bummer. The boy really did get this super cheap. We totally don't need it. But it stings paying $60 for a new game on PS4/Wii U knowing things like Halo 4 are out there for $13. At this time, I have only about 1/2 dozen gen 8 console games. Very pricey. Good deals on 360 games I haven't played, at least, are new to me.

I have, and they've patched, the PS3 version. I may get the new one for Wii U.

So, I'm pretty much assured, no new exclussives. Will things like the next COD be made for both 360 and PS4 (new cross console games still coming)?

I know I want Halo 4 and Forza 4. I have no idea what they boy wants, but he has been talking about this since our last one died (while I was finishing Halo Reach). With so many other things I already own, I have to contain myself and not spend too much on this. It is the boy's after all. But it is nice of y'all to add your 2 cents. Thank you.

Yeah, the Xbox 360 doesn't have a bright future. The best you can hope for is PS4/Xbox One ports which you might think are better on the Xbox 360 controller.

The next Call of Duty will likely still keep the 360 and PS3 in mind, seeing as Ghosts promised this huge leap and well, it didn't happen, and Activision will be scared to lose all that money.

There's a decent solid back catalog on the 360, in 8 years a fair few decent games have been released. Exclusives, less so, but then it's a piece of gaming history now, and what with the industries severe allergy to backwards compatibility its likely to be the only way to play most 360 games in the coming years.

So, I guess what I'm saying is, don't flog it, don't spill a pint of ale over it, but equally, don't build it a solid gold plinth for it to sit atop and then go and buy 4 overpriced controllers.

There are still a few releases left in it, and I don't see anything wrong with picking up one cheap if you have a list of games you never got around to (or just some you wish to replay), but the marketing focus will be shifting more and more to the next gen before long.
