Has anyone had their iPod stolen before? If you have and have been in the following situation could you please give some advice?
Recently i just had my new one stolen and right now i am very curious if whoever stole it could buy songs off iTunes and charge it to me. Can they only do that if they guess my AppleID? Or is that irrelevant to be able to buy the songs?

Is it possible to get Apple to deactivate an iPod with the serial number? (Like a phone sim card)

Nope your apple ID is separate from your iPod, your iPod is just connected through the account. I don't really think that you can deactivate an iPod, unless it is a touch or a phone of some sorts that can connect to the internet. I would contact Apple for more information!

As far as I know they cannot deactivate the ipod. For purchasing the guilty party will need your apple info. This is stored in itunes and not on your ipod, unless you put it there as a file, so you should be safe that way. If you want to be careful you can change your password and the info that may be on the ipod will not update. Hope that helps.

Its a touch so it should be able to connect to the net. I honestly haven't even tried, only had it 2 days.

thanks for the input

You've got absolutely awful luck.
It's ok, karma will come around and it will explode and melt the kids underwear.

Damn, I am sorry to hear that mate. Anyway, I do know that you can actually file a police report on that, I would actually suggest it. IF you know your friends aren't screwing with you and took it... Otherwise, yeah. Bad things.
