My question is this:
Why not release ME1/2 as a 'WiiU Pack' for those who haven't played the games, but want to?
Probably copyright issues. You see, the reason Mass Effect 1 didn't come out on the PS3 is because Mass Effect 1 is still only allowed on PC and Xbox, so therefore noone else can have it. Not really all that sure about Mass Effect 2 though. What I do hope they do is release something similar to the thing that came with the PS3 ME2, something that lets you choose what your shepherd did in the first two games.

The Wii U is new territory for EA. Porting Mass Effect 3 allows them to put a triple-A title on the console, without having to sink tens of millions into development, and allowing them to learn the idiosyncrasies of the system.

In short, this is probably more for EA's benefit than it is for ours.
I thought of another reason for ME3 as well - it's got solid, if somewhat uninspired, multiplayer and given EA's current mania for online gaming they'd be sure as shit wanting to test how the WiiU performs in online MP (not to mention trying to establish a good share of the early online play)

Even though it's the arse end of a trilogy, ME3 ticks a lot of boxes for things EA will want answers to before they decide just how much they want to support the WiiU... and all for the cost of a port.

Least stupid thing I've heard of EA doing in a loooong time.

I can't help but scratch my head at this. I've never understood the mentality that they seem to be pushing for Mass Effect 3. "The end of the trilogy is the PERFECT place for new players to get into the Mass Effect universe." And they're doing it again here.

I'm sorry, but unless you have the original Mass Effect save data, then carried it over to Mass Effect 2, then carried that over to Mass Effect 3, you're getting an incomplete game. Yes, it's still playable and enjoyable, but even on the PS3 versions of Mass Effect 2 and 3, things were missing from them. At least PS3 players got Mass Effect 2 to help, but the Wii U will have only Mass Effect 3, and I feel the game will suffer for not having the other games' data.

The only people I can see buying this are fans of the series, who will probably already have a copy and therefore see no reason to buy it. I could be completely mistaken though, as I place a high value on the complete story and others may only want it for the multiplayer.

But it still is kinda stupid.
I mean, they give people an old port and judge the console based on that port. most people who wanted to buy it have already bought it. Making a port more than half a year later, sell it at full price and then decide on the future of a console based on that is just stupid.

So the question is: how can they take the most disappointing game of the decade and make it even worse?

The answer (as it turns out): port it onto the shittiest console ever conceived.

Seriously, who is this marketed towards?
People who want to have the WiiU and haven't played ME3.
Yeah but who is that? That's a person who presumably only buys Nintendo products otherwise they would have gotten it already. If they are someone who only gets Nintendo then they wouldn't care about Mass Effect. And if they did, why would they want to jump on in the last game of the series, without one of the biggest selling points of the franchise, transferring data?

I mean, I'm sure that person exists, but he's the only one.
Hi, I'm the only one. I played the first two games on 360, but I was planning on getting it for the PS3 because of the free online multiplayer and because I simply use that system more. I've procrastinated a long while because I want it to be cheap and/or come with DLC. I just haven't been playing a lot of games lately. Maybe, if I have a job by then and can afford a Wii U, then I might buy that game for it.

How about not mapping every single action in the god damn game to the same fucking button?

Have you guys considered that?

You guys should consider that.

Yes, that would be stupid but read what I actually wrote. [hint: it's not about the sales]

Just when I thought EA couldn't make ME 3 worse. They did this. Wow I'm just amazed at their stupidity.

Close. It's a matter of publishing rights.

Since the game was developed pre-EA (the good old days, eh?), Microsoft managed to acquire exclusive console rights, and EA were only allowed to publish it for the PC.

The game isn't being ported to the Atari Jaguar OR the Virtual Boy, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Just ignore the hater.
The console isn't even out yet, but people hate it. 0/10 trolls.

Always reminds me of e3 from last year.
When darkstalkers 2 was announced for the WiiU and they showed clips a lot of people were like: See grafics are worse compared to the rest the WiiU grafics version suck etc. In the end it turned out the clips shown for all versions were rendered and made from the same system. People only thought they saw worse grafics just because it was combined with the WiiU name.

People just see what they want to see.

Don't worry! Every single button function will be available on the touch screen! All you have to do is COMPLETELY remove your attention from what's actually happening in the game so you can find the button you want to press.
Somehow, that might be an improvement.

My poor spacebar.

You can literally do ANYTHING to the Mass Effect 3 controls and they will get better.

I mean seriously 6 different (And opposing) commands on the A button? give me a break.
