So you're in a plane and it crashes, everyone is alive but you're stranded in the middle of nowhere, in which environment do you think you could be most resourceful and which do you think you would be most likely to survive? Why? Also which do you think is the worst place to be stranded?

- Rainforest: With wild ferocious territorial animals, its unknown where the nearest source of water is, danger lurks everywhere and who knows what insects are buzzing about, harmless though they may seem, a sting or a bite could be lethal.
- Icy Tundra: Freezing, nothing but snow around, but if you know how to make water from the ice and have resources to keep you warm, you may be able to survive. Beware of avalanches and / or blizzard storms.
- Desert: Nothing but sand around for miles, few cactus', but pretty useless unless you know what to do. Beware of sandstorms.
- On a small Island: Surrounded by water, with a few trees, food growing is pretty limited and there are no animals, so no meat. There are fish though....amongst sharks.

Space came to mind as well, but that's getting a little silly :p So yes, lest weigh up the pros and cons of these 4.

desert is definatley worst place to be. sooo hoooooooooooot....

I think icy tundra would be best because lots of water. it would be possible to find a cave for a fire and even possible to heat the melted snow to have warm water?
also there would probably be (frozen)streams/rivers with fish and i looooooooooove fish.

Honestly, a plane crashing into a giant bowl of jell-o outside of an amusement park sounds like the best option. /OP, for realism rainforests hold the most food, but also harbour poisonous mammals, so I have to go with the tropical island. Who knows, there might even be a motel. As for the worst, space. Or New Jersey. I'll let you decide which is worse. Go ahead and 9/11 those volcanoes.

If youre in a rainforest, you have an idea of where your water is going to come from, so you wont be without it for too long. at that point its all just purification. and withs ome careful observation, you can easily avoid insects by using natural plants.

The tundra depends on if you have soemthing with you and where exactly this tundra is. If you just wake up in the middle of it, yeah, you're pretty much screwed, but thats true of any of those places. so for me, this would be the hardest, just caus i dont like the cold.

The desert. similar to the tundra, though different weather (except at night). though i would do better here cause I'm better in the heat, but still, this would be like, third on my list of bad to worse.

the small island seems to be the ideal if you're actually alone and depending on the water supply. if you're in a fresh water area, you have all the water you need, but odds are your surrounded by salt water. still most islands have a water source (unless this is the stereotype lump of landi n the ocean with only enough space for a single small palm tree to grow. this is probably the ideal, becasue you're at the most stable weather, and the island (as long as it has cover) is very survivable for much of your life if you want. the loneliness could be a *****, but if you can get used to that then the problem is wnating to leave. as for sharks, thats a whole lotta meat for you. Just gotta watch out for storms.

So (for me personally at least), here's my ranking of easiest to hardest to survive, one being eaiest, four being hardest.

1) Small Island
2) Rainforest
3) Desert (just because its warmer)
4) Tundra (just because its colder)

though really in terms of survivability, the desert and tundra would be tied for worst.

I'd be able to survive if there was civilization nearby, otherwise I'm going to be just an extra pair of hands, not a leader :p

As for worst place to be stranded?

This film's scenario would be truly awful. [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1157720/]

Did intensive jungle training in the military so i'd be okay there.

Also cold weather training so wouldn't be too lost with that either.

Bit shit when it comes to deserts though.

Small island wouldn't be so bad but chances of finding a way home would be the least.

So from easiest to hardest.

1. Rainforest - As I said, been trained to survive them so thats not an issue. Rainforests are not isolated either so more chance of finding civilisation.

2. Icy Tundra - Certain measures can be taken to survive plus a chance of finding civilisation.

3. Desert - No experience of deserts at all but all the ones I know about do have some form of civilisation near them so maybe chances of survival are a bit higher than "oh fuck i'm dead".

4. Small Island - Don't know why but the thought of being stranded on an island just fills me with a bit of dread.

I would definatly say rainforrest, it would be hard and a few or many would die but still the "best" place to crash

Yes, of course, never heard of the arachnophant? Its a purple elephant with six legs, capable of killing 1000 men with venom it blasts from its trunk.

Conclusion, you learn something new everyday

The platypus is a poisonous mammal.
OT: I would say hot and cold deserts would be the worst. The island and rainforest while still bad are not as bad.

1. I can only think of cons: evil animals and insects from hell
2. Very hot in the day and very cold at night.
3. Very Very cold.
4. I think is the best option, if it's a medium sized island. There will be plenty of fish (most sharks don't go after humans), plenty of fruits, maybe some wild chickens and boars. I would love to be stranded on an island.

Rainforest: You'll either be eaten, or poisoned, and then eaten.

Desert: You're fucked. No water, no food, everything hates you.

Tundra: I don't know man, sure there's lots of water, but is there any food?

Island: Fruit, water, and animals that aren't too big and scary. This sounds like the best option.

Also a wild gorilla swinging a poisonous snake like a flail.

Jungle is the best because there is a ton of food and water there, just don't be stupid because it's the most dangerous environment with regards to dangerous critters.
Thanks for the hilarious/terrifying mental image!

Island sounds nice, the ntundra, then rainforest, then desert, then capital wasteland, mainly because I would have to listen to THREE DOG BOW WOW! all the fucking time.

Well obviously the island. I don't care how food's in the jungle, anywhere where dangerous things really want to kill and eat you is a place I don't want to be.

Of those 4, I'd probably be most helpful on the island, or maybe the rainforest. I would without a doubt be most helpful in a temperate forest(not one of the 4, but it really should be), I know how to survive in a temperate forest with virtually nothing, so that's definitely where I would be most helpful.

Island. Maybe there will be pineapples or mangos!
Plus it's like a vacation except you're stuck there.

The land of ponies and rainboes and smiles and cupcakes and frosting and lollipops and friendship and siles. Oh, and teleporters. And infinite money-dispensing machines.

Oh, and this is just a variation of the island theme. Because the land of etc. is an island.
