So about 20 minutes ago I turned on my PS3, like I do pretty much every day, to watch a movie. After I turned it on, I switched my TV to the channel the PS3 uses, as soon as I did this, the TV turned off, then it turned on again, as soon as the first PS3 screen popped up, it turned off again, on again, wax on wax off.

I tried the simple solutions like switching the HDMI cables or using a different port to the TV but nothing seems to work, all my other devices that are attached to my TV work perfectly, only ths PS3 seems to be affected.

If anyone had this happen to them and/or knows what to do, advice would be welcome, I can also check the details of the PS3 and the TV itself if that's relevant.

I have found that pulling the power plug on the TV while the PS3 is on can do a lot of good.

Never had this particular issue before though.

You can also try the soft system reset, by holding the power button in while booting the PS3, till you hear a double blip.

(Man working on a Saturday is not good for me, instead of PS3 I repeatedly wrote the name of the product I work with :p)

Try aurgelmir's solution and if that doesn't work then your ps3 is fucked. Try turning on again keep it on the channel and it should do the exact same thing blink for a few before it stop, try wiggling the wires. You might get this to happen the next few times you try and turn on but after awhile its just going to stop outputting video at all.

Someone told me it was the video card in the system but I don't have experience opening up machines so I didn't bother checking. I called several computer shops and they all said fixing it would probably be very expensive because the parts suppliers massively over price the after market parts. Send it into sony to get it fix, your guaranteed to get a machine back that works... it might not be your machine and I had no data on my ps3 so yeah.

If you can manage to get to the access screen then back up all your data on an external hard drive because i'm almost positive your ps3 is dieing like mine did.

I've done some more testing and it turns out the problem is actually in the TV, the same thing happens on other channels too but it takes at least 30 minutes, while on the PS3 it takes about 3-4 seconds. So basically the channels with the better picture turn off sooner. Anyone know what this could be about?

Also, I tried adjusting the room temperature just in case the TV was overheating, but that didn't help much.
