So I was setting up my 360 for online play today when I discovered that it wasn't reading the MW2 disk despite it working perfectly a few minutes before.

I unplugged everything, removed the hard drive, memory card and controllers waited and plugged everything back in, and turned it back on.

I got the Red Rings of Death.

Turning the console off, I decided to do the exact same thing as I did when the disk wasn't reading. I unplugged everything, removed the hard drive, memory card and controllers waited and plugged everything back in, and turned it back on.

Now its working.

I emailed/phoned Xbox Support about this but they seem to be as confused as I am. Anyone have any ideas on whats going on? Should I keep my 360 or start saving for a new one?

No worries, but I often find gamers know allot more than someone sitting behind a desk reading instructions off of a computer screen.

Sounds like it over-heated and by the time you put everything back it had cooled down. It's a possibility. I wouldn't play it for overly long periods of time. Is it an older model?

I don't believe so. The first one I had RROD'd and we got this one early last year, around March

Well, is she insured against fuck-uperry? You got a year I think with the newer model or possibly 3 if it RRODd. Mine RRODd after 9mths, they took away next day and brought it back 6days later.

Be prepared for it to break. This sounds very much like what happened with my second 360. It RROD'd a few days after the first brief RROD. Good news, its covered for three years from RROD problems.

It works, right? Then I'd just keep playing until it doesn't. If you're worried you could just avoid playing too long. Something like that happened to my Xbox too, but it hasn't broken down yet.

Like others are saying, this is a prelude to a full on RRoD. Same thing happened to me.

Probably means your console is on it's way out, remember, RROD isn't always a problem with the console, with me, it was the power brick, you better hope that's not the case, a new power brick is a fucking ridiculous $100

Well, I guess I'll start putting some money aside for a new console.

Thanks for the help and input!
