So last night me being bored had been on xbox live with my friend and his other friend. Now his friend was obviously under the influence of something and he was also Canadian which is pretty badass...any way the Canadian told me and my friend a little philosophy "The only people who you can consider friends are those who'd take a bullet for you and vice versa" pretty wise words from a stoner at 4 am... I was wondering if anyone on the Escapist feels the same way?

Just out of boredom lol

No. That's typically the rule for love, I'd say.

The rule for friends is really just people you like to hang out with.

As I constantly rip off from some source I don't remember anymore:

A friend is the person who helps you up when you fall...

Your best friend is the guy who either tripped you or laughed when you fell.

Im wondering how "stoned" and "canadian" gets translated into baddass

i don't really think there is anything baddass, per se, about either one, nor about the combination of the two.

i suppose I was quite the impressionable child as well, many moons ago

I think a friend is someone who likes what you say well enough to click 'add friend' on your profile.

So far, I have three. I rock.

I'd take a bullet for my mom, probably. And my dog, but that's about it.
I guess you'd expect your dog to take the Fable 2 route for you, anyway my friends are friends, but for the good ones I would take the pain of a bullet for.

True best friends I would take a bullet for, just regular old friends not as much. So, techinically mister Canada is wrong to a degree, but I get a sense of what he meant. Your true friends are the ones you would bite the bullet for, if you aren't willing to, they aren't really your good friends.

pain of a bullet, sure. I've got about 4 friends I'd take the pain of a bullet for. It's the ensuing possibility of death that I have a problem with.
I always thought the excrutiating pain was the point, as for death my family, and If I saw a child, but as for friends I hope my conscience would kick In.

There are plenty of people I'd take a bullet for.

But among my friends, there is only one guy from whom I might actually consider shooting someone.

You take a bullet for them but what if it goes straight through and they die and you're left lying in a pool of your and their blood thinking "What's the point?".

Some comic, I forget who put it best: "A friend will bail you out of jail, a real friend will be sitting along side you going 'dude, we fucked up'"

I would not take a lethal bullet for anyone, but I would try my hardest to plan ourselves out of a tight situation. The important thing is that you'd do whatever you can to help your friends, a bullet is just the most extreme example.

Upon further thought, I think I'd take the pain of bullet for pretty much anyone as long as I was sure I wouldn't end up paralyzed or dead. Even for you, my friend.
Come to The Escapist, enjoy Yahtzee, general intelligence, and people so nice they'll take a bullet for you.

Reminds me of some weird quote I was read: "One day love and friendship met each other. Love asked: "Friendship, why are you here when I exist?" Friendship answered: "To make a smile where you only leave tears""

Wow. That's actually a pretty good quote.

You remember who said it?
