This isn't a topic about worst cover you've ever heard, or the best covers. These are simply the covers you listen to that you are constantly wondering "What the...?" the entire time you are listening to it.

For my example, I was just listening to last.fm, on the cover radio, and a cover done by Between the Buried and Me came on. For those of you not "in the know", BtBaM is a progressive metalcore band. So, what songs would you expect them to cover? Other metal songs? How about...Bicycle Race by Queen [http://www.last.fm/music/Between+the+Buried+and+Me/_/Bicycle+Race]?

Again, what covers have you heard that were just out there, either by being out of type for the band or just plain strange sounding?

A Ukrainian band covering Hot n' Cold by Katie Perry.

It was... Quite an experience, that's all I'll say.
They were mainly playing it on Accordion.

I think Northern Kings' entire body of cover work qualifies. They've done Don't Stop Believing (by Journey), Creep (by Radiohead), and Don't Bring Me Down (by ELO) and managed in each case to make it better than the original with their good technical metal musicianship.

I think Reel Big Fish's cover of Take on me was a strange idea, but was brilliantly done.

I heard one the other day in a cafe, but I can't remember for the life of me who did it.
It was a cover of the song Float on.
Hmmm, this will haunt me until I die. Or at least until I don't care anymore.
