Starcraft, Warcraft, Command and Conquer, Advance Wars. I know you said no JRPG, but oh well. Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, Makai Kingdoms...well, actually, anything by NipponIchi. (N1)

Play Home World, seriously excellent story, unpredictable, non-cliche', its better then most rpgs. (HomeWorld is my # 1 game of all time)

Homeworld, 100% epic space opera.

Homeworld: Cataclysm, less epic in scale, however I prefered it as it was more personal, I don't know who they did to voice the commander of the Kuun-Lan, but he was an excellent choice. So much feeling in that game. And it shows the Bentusi to be less than saints.

Just watch this intro for Cataclysm and go out and buy the game! Oh, and play Homeworld first while you're at it!

Honestly JRPG/TBS does Not count okay? Whe are going for western Pure RTS/TBS games.

Why?

I'm going to say Fire Emblem, Starcraft, Warcraft, Age of Empires and Age of Mythology.

Even though it may be not be the most complex of storylines, I have to say I enjoyed the plot and character development World in Conflict more than I expected. But then, I read Tom Clancy novels as if they were funny papers.....

Becauese most of those are a JRPG in disguise. I still like them but i think they belong in another category... altough fire emblem might qualify but not final fantasy tactics (<-- Liked that game)
