Ho boy. I'm sure your intentions are pure but there is no way in hell that this thread will end well. Might as well gamble!

-500 odds on an argument on page 1!
+100 odds on an argument by page 2!
+500 odds on an argument by page 3!

Takin all bets!

OT: Since I don't feel like getting myself into a heated argument one person in, I'll go ahead and throw out the (relatively) tame complaint that people who call sport games/call of duty/insert "DudeBro" game here as the same game every year don't know what the hell they're talking about. It's a stupid thing to say and you should feel stupid for saying it.

Maybe I should kill the second half. I really dont want this to be focused on those issues.

Maybe this is just jaded old tippy2k2 speaking but I doubt it'll matter. Even if you get rid of your own "hot button" arguments in your OP, I guarantee SOMEONE will put in their own hot button topic soon enough. Someone on the other side of the aisle will see said argument and then all hell is gonna break loose.

Up to you, it's your thread. I'm just callin'em like I sees'em :D

Rubbish. No chance of an argument that early on, clearly we have to wait for things to develop.

I'm getting the distinct impression that the title and OP used to be something very different.

I've found stranger places to have a discussion.

I've always enjoyed strawmen when they're used for mystical purposes, like voodoo! I don't know if it's taboo to talk about, but in fiction, strawmen can be pretty creepy when characters create them as effigies. They give character to ritualistic practices. Bonus points to villains that have the talent to craft excellent likenesses of their targets.

Well, that's my two cents. I'm sure strawmen are used for other things, like scarecrows, but those things are creepy in their own right.

Absolutely concur. I mean the anti-strawmen people are all "You're only in favor of strawmen because your parents are horses" which is ridiculous. Pro-strawmen people have ancestries of all corners of the animal kingdom. #NotYourZoo

Dear god help me, I'm drowning in meta.

I'm actually allergic to straw. I found that out once when I took a job on a farm bailing hay.
