So Mass Effect 3 is now out in North America. Cool story us lesser folk in Australia and Europe are forced to wait until Thursday, but really why is this? What is the point of a street date? Not to mention one that makes us wait an extra 2 days for no apparent reason. Ok so what is the underlying 'original good intention reason' for a street date? Well it's all for the cause of fairness to the retailers, the idea being if one store can get it on Monday but the other can't get it shipped in until Thursday obviously that second store is at a disadvantage. Really though it's Wednesday in Australia, any retailer that doesn't have Mass Effect 3 in by now will not be ready to sell it tomorrow. The fact that they are forced to keep it out the back and not sell it because of a 'Street date' is ludicrous.
