is anyone else at the escapist looking as forward to this game as I am? The street fighter series has fallen far from grace since Super Street Fighter 2, but Street Fighter 4 seems to be a nex-gen return to form and I am going to have so much fun playing it.

I don't think I've ever been so excited over a fighting game before. Virtua Fighter 5? Nah.. VF4 was plenty for me. SC4? I have the game, but I didn't buy it, my sister got it for herself, and I just happen to own the only 360 she can use to play it..

But Street Fighter 4, a return to what was great about Street Fighter 2, with new smooth graphics and a cell-shaded graphics style? SIGN ME UP. and with the few recent titles actually living up to the hype, I'm actually really hoping that SF4 fallows suit.

It has to top SF3 which despite being less popular was better than 2 in every way. Also, Why is Sakura who is nothing but a cheap excuse for panty shots in the game yet Alex the main character of three is not?

The problem with 4 is they are bringing back the cast from 2 while ignoring the cast from 3. This is why democracy is flawed. It does not matter what is the best it matters what is the most popular.

Are they still trying to pretend that Cammy isn't lesbian?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of heterosexual women out there with bodybuilder physique in the British SAS...in anime. Happens all the time.

Sakura is one of the best characters if you know how to use her, she's like the best of both Ken and Ryu without having to resort to Akuma.

Word! Sakura is just another cheap shoto-clone.

I hear Fei Long and T.Hawk are back. Talk about wastes of space. Why not bring back more of the SFIII characters?

Excited but angry that 360 can't figure out how to produce a good wireless arcade-style controller. It never feels quite right to play a fighter without an arcade stick and oversized rounded buttons.

True that.

It never feels right unless you can slam the buttons with your fist out of desperation.

Street Fighter 4 seems to have a quite limited roster, which was one of the main draws of the others
The Alpha series aside, Street Fighter games has always had limited rosters (at least compared to games like KOF and Mortal Kombat). That has the possibility of being a good thing, so long as they get the balance right.

I'll probably be playing Rufus.

I'm not looking forward to the initial release so much as I am the third or fourth. Y'know, "Street Fighter IV: Hyper Fighting Championship Tournament Grand Master Challenge Fourth Strike Edition." If II and III were any indication, it'll be the only version worth buying.

Am I the only one who thinks Street Fighter is past its best?
I find it hard to get excited about a game that's not changed anything about itself in so long...

There's only one true Street Fighter.
They overpowered her to the max in SFIII. I kicked so much arse with her in that game.
Nah, she has problems with reach, is fairly meter-dependent and she doesn't really have anything knock people out of the air. Not to mention her sprite is one of the widest in the game, which means you can get some pretty deadly stuff through that you usually wouldn't with other chars. She's good, yes, but not overpowered in the slightest.

Yun, though...that guy is OMGWTF powerful.

So I've heard, I just can't use him properly.

Chun Li's standing reach isn't great, but her low kick trumps a lot of attacks. A well timed Kikoushou will not only take someone out of the air but deal a world of hurt. Her air throw used to do an obscene amount of damage and trump a lot of other air attacks but I think they've toned it down.

Well I've played Street Fighter IV at my arcades and I gotta say the game is a bit of a step back from Street Fighter III, which is dissapointing. I felt like it was like a Turbo 3, and not a Street Fighter IV. The game plays as smoothly as Hyper fighting did (which is good news to me since HF was my favourite version of the game) but from the time I spent with it (a good 20 dollars, twice through the story mode, and then played some people) it didn't blow me away at all.

This is the game for all those people still stuck on Street Fighter 2 and its alterations, but for someone who wanted a successor to III, I felt let down.

Keep in mind I played the game for about an hour and maybe I didn't get into some sort of system that the game provided or whatever (like the Crush system in Tekken 5, that went over my head for the first few weeks until someone showed me), but it really didn't feel radically different from 2 like 3 did. The game was fun however, and it did eat my money.
