Superman wins, I hate to say it to all you marvel freaks, but DC covered their basis when they made Superman. Faster than the speed of light, stronger than the hulk, and his only weakness are a bunch of green crystals floating about the cosmos. Dr. Manhattan I believe is the only one to even come close, simply because he's controls everything on an atomic level, which strikes me as even more unfair than Superman

But Dr. Manhattan sees time as simultaneous, while Superman apparently can only turn back time by flying really fast around the world. (Although that's because most of my knowledge of Superman are from the Christopher Reeve films, one or two comic books I may've read that included the Man of Steel himself, and Wikipedia.)

Not to mention that Manhattan can even survive being disintegrated and has no physical weakness, while a green rock is Superman's weakness.

Why do you people assume Dr. Manhattan is some god among superheroes? He's just a weaker version of Captain Atom, who in himself is no where near RKT or Superman Prime One Million.
Dr. Manhattan is essentially indestructible and has power over matter. That makes him rather powerful.

If you want to get technical about it, it's The Flash (Wally West).

1. He's the fastest thing in the universe.

2. When physics is applied to Wally's speed, his body becomes insanely dense the faster he goes. Getting punched by Wally moving at his fastest is equivalent to being punched by all the mass in the universe compacted into his fist. Even DC admits he can one-shot Superman.

Dr. Manhattan or Sentry even though he's nuts.
But I don't read most of the comic with the ultra powerfull superheros anyway and so most my knowledge of them comes from crossovers.
I should read more comics. If only I had more money and less hobbies.

superman prime, possibly...

that's because he is fucking OP beyond belief at this point. good luck.

however i do enjoy the flash the most, just for his witty optimism and jokes, plus stuff like this:

if he used speedforce more often (or to the potential of comic books/written down flash) or used all of his tricks on a normal basis (vibratiion through items, transfer of kinetic energy) he'd be fucking god mode.

You're going to hear this alot: Batman.

Why? Well, before I hear an argument, here's the skinny.

In all his work, Bats has obsessively trained himself in numerous ways to better himself as a human being, largely because he understands his limitations. His weakness? Any human failing, and he works on it, unlike having a super power weakness that can't be so easily protected from. Even still...he has worked with a magician, a martial arts master, gotten into detective deduction, physically trained his overall strength and agility, and likely more. He has a great amount of legal resources to tap into to get what he needs...which includes a computer and series of vehicles which outmatch most military models by a great step.

Another important point is that he has made himself appear more than human by varying means, down to his suit, his gadgets, or his intimidation...but the point is that he created a mystique that has even criminal super villains quaking in their boots. He beats you because you don't know WHAT to expect...and when you expect him to be just another human being, he surprises the hell out of you. The gadgets, of course, allow him to deal with most any situation...like gas, water, fire, freezing, melting, cutting, lockpicking, heights, detection, and plenty more...such as numerous weapons he has practiced with to an artform. He has made himself seem unstoppable...and to those who think he isn't...well...he IS.

Take any sort of villain or, in fact, hero that he could face. Not only does he have a plan, or several plans, but he can also think on his feet very carefully. Batman is not just a major planner with a good follow-through, he can work them out quickly too. If he didn't, then all of the traps he DIDN'T expect in his life would have killed him. Oh wait, I seem to recall even DEATH not taking hold either. (That was a comic thing, of course.) This guy befuddles Darksied, Darksied who has a beam that will follow you to the ends of the Earth to vaporize you if need-be. He beat it, and he can outsmart anyone.

Superman or Batman depending a lot on luck. Supes is pretty obvious. Bats has a contingency to stop the Justice League if shit goes down. Those contingencies don't always work, however. See Batman:Doom v. Injustice:Gods Among Us.

Mogo is also a strong contender. Hard to beat a sentient planet with a green lantern ring... Modern Swamp Thing wields the white lantern so he could destroy everyone too.

That's the issue with these "strongest superhero" discussions. There are many superheroes with the power to destroy the world and/or universe if they want to. When two superheroes can destroy the universe, how does one decide who is actually stronger?
