So, I was given the task to write an article at school... as usual, most of the subjects to choose from were not slightly interesting. Then I saw Darwin being mentioned in one of the tasks. And the question was "How is growing up today a struggle for life?"

Y'know, it's always best if you start off by stating your own opinion first...

On topic, I think that it's the way in which everyone seems determined to make you fail in today's society.

Por ejemplo, I find people are less inclined to encourage others and more inclined to criticise them. Not to say that this is always the case, but most often.

First place I would look is at the things that can kill/seriously injure you. We may not be 'struggling' in the same way as a caveman but we do have to learn or be taught certain things.

Don't stick things in the electric holes in the walls
Falling off a high building will kill you as much as a high tree or cliff
Green Cross code (or the equivalent in Norway)

There are plenty more of course. Depending on exactly what they mean by growing up maybe sneak something from the Darwin awards in :p

Well its not so much surviving now as it is spreading your genes around that's the "struggle" (well at least not here in the First World countries, else life goes on as normal). Although keeping afloat in today's society could also constitute as a struggle. Don't have much chance of preserving your genes if you're homeless or a social pariah.

If you live in a third-world country, you obviously struggle to get food, clean water, and educational opportunities.

But if you live in a developed country(like most of this site) your biggest struggle is to get good grades in school and get home from work in time to watch your football game.

Well, if you live in a developed country, like Australia or the US, "life" is less about survival than decadence. "Life" as defined by Darwinism has become starting point, rather than the ultimate goal.

So the struggle for life is less about getting enough food and water and shelter to remain alive, more about getting the most "food", most "water", and the biggest shelter.
