Hey guys,
I'm totally stuck with White Bear (Black Mirror). Could anyone explain it to me? All the other parts were ok for me and I actually liked them, but not this one. What is the meaning of all that stuff happening to her? I mean is she really a murderer?

I see, thanks. Which parts did you review? Just wondering
The Waldo Moment,
The Entire History of You,
Nosedive,
The National Anthem
Be Right Back

But actually, I liked The National Anthem most of all, even though it made me feel ashamed just watching it.

Yes, she was really a murderer. She and her boyfriend tortured a child to death and as punishment she's being made to constantly live out a scenario where terrifying unknown figures are coming to hurt and/or kill her; a kind of ironic reflection thing of what she herself did. Its played out with people allowed to watch to satisfy the public sense of justice. I read the episode as a commentary on the public demand for vengeance whenever someone is brought into the spotlight for notorious reasons, how people tend to abandon civilisation when it comes to insisting punishment be doled out

Nah, its just lazy social media advertising.

OP seems to be a Russian:

Studying at Obuda University:

where I'm guessing he's majoring in media advertisement.

Felix Menders is using a fake photo, one Tony of Louisiana:

And Felix Menders seems to be a member of 123Essay, an essay writing company aimed at college students:

Interestingly enough, OP's deviantart page references a religious essay written by 123Essay:

So its probably all a viral marketing scheme of some sort.

I don't know if OP is also a bot, but I really hate this episode. Large portions of it consist of watching a woman crying in anguish, and the whole twist turns out to be that society being committed to a really stupid ritual just for the sadism of it. They punish her for a previous crime, but make her forget about both the crime and the punishment every day, rendering the whole exercise pointless.

It doesn't really work as a story because the audience and the protagonist are encouraged to see the setting as an otherwise normal world with something weird going on, when in fact - "Ha I fool u!" - it's actually a completely bananas world that only exists to make the story work. It's the sci-fi equivalent of her waking up at the end and realising she had a dream.

It best shows the things I hate most about a lot of Black Mirror episodes. Many of the episodes consist of arbitrary cruelty inflicted on a person, perpetrated by a society who act like idiots for the sake of the story: it's Kafka played too straight.
