After seeing some of the stuff the given studio is responsible for, im more likely to burn down all my local cinemas to spare them the torment of another one of thier movies.

And how the heck are they going to compress the plot into anything less than the mandatory 2-and-a-half-hours?

I'll save my excitement until they actually start filming. These movie licencing deals rarely amount to anything and, considering the quality of those few that have actually seen the light of day, it's probably for the best.

Ways to make this movie a success;
Don't involve any of the main characters in the game/series
Relate to the companies by having them on the news but don't directly involve them into the main plot (like the Security firm or Page Industries etc).
In essence have it clearly the world the game is based on, BUT don't involve the game in any way.
Get someone who can write something complex and does research (Aaron Sorkin and his uncredited crew) not the people who did 24 Hours - who are more familiar with the genre (who don't know jack about jack).

why all the hate for CBS? The Woman In Black is a fairly decent movie...
Woman in Black is an OK movie but the thing is, it was a great stage production, which the film doesnt even touch, and that is what i fear most for Deus Ex the movie, that it will be watchable, but loose so much of the magic that made the game great.

The themes in Deus Ex could be great for a movie.

But if they try to re-make the plot of the game this movie WILL suck. Nothing about video games is compatible with a movie. Not the way they are told, not the length, not the perspective. Something that was exciting in the game could be boring as shit in a movie, because half the excitement in the game was that YOU did it. Also, character and costume design from video games will make even the highest budgets of movies look like they where made in a basement by 12 year olds.

If this movie is to be good they need to keep the themes, the setting and the general "ideas" behind the game(s) but scrap the entire plot and all the characters and make a new one, designed for the big screen rather than the xbox.
