With all this evidence, it'd be nice to see something done to bridge the gap. Psychologists need to be able to help kids who are severely troubled by video game addictions in a way which does not land stigma on the rest of us.
Can't be done. As long as parent groups are blaming everything wrong in the world on games, 'Gamers' will always be the bad guy. Gaming addicts give the rest of us a bad name because of what I said above. It's sad, but it's similar to alcoholics. If you enjoy alcohol (as many people do) you're immediately labelled an alcoholic, even if you don't have a drinking problem. =[

Well...
When I've let myself play video games rather than making it seem like some naughty activity, I do better in school. Does this make me a pathologic gamer, or am I just closer to the supposed "right balance?"

Treatment clinics...ugh, that doesn't even sound good. Why would you want to treat videogames? It's called discipline, people! Teach it to your kids! Maybe we should start instituting treatment clinics for insane Football fans (either football), getting in fights, stabbing each other, destroying each other's property...that sounds much more harmful than video games.

Oh boy, Here comes Jack Thomson and another rant as to how video games are eeeevil
Did you even read the artical? he says that game aren't bad or addicting, it's just a small number of kids can be harmed if not taken care of. And you gotta admit, even as a gamer, that games CAN be addicting.
Well, that's how I enterperted it, AND yes I am well aware that games ARE addicting. I'm addicted to them...as well as you I bet.
I'd love to see a AAA meeting cure this addiction.
