Hello everybody.

It has being quite a while since I posted a topic, so lets see if I can get back into it.

Anyway, I was wondering how many people listen to music while they study or work? If you do, what song?

In my case, this always helps me concentrate and makes me feel smarter:

I don't have any thing in particular that I listen to, but when I would study I would prefer usually instrumentals since lyrics in music would distract me.

Yeah, I pretty much stuck to instrumental pieces and video game soundtracks. Lyrics make it almost impossible for me to read anything.

Come on. It's my first thread back in months. Cut me a little slack.
Bumping it isn't going to help you ;)

Agree. If I'm going to study "4 real" though preferably no music, a sheet of paper, a pencil and a lot of time.

I like metal.
It gets me to headbang so hard, until my brain is scrambled up enough to enter any thought process what-so-ever.
Just because I love A7X in THAT way.

I naturally pay very close attention to music, so having it playing in the background whilst studying isn't very beneficial. I end up just concentrating on the music instead of my work.

I have a relaxation playlist on my Spotify account. I don't listen to it much since the downfall of the program (damn my lack of credit cards), but it had stuff ranging from Chopin to Helloween (ballads), from Enya to Dream Theater, from Porcupine tree to the SCV love song. Quite interesting, if I sare say so meself :)

I've always prefered Light's Theme over L's...

OT: Baroque music. 'Technical' music is always better to work/study to than 'emotive' music, I find. *meh*

My 'Jazz Masters' playlist might as well just be called 'Work & Cooking Accompaniment'.

Suffice to say, it comprises the following albums:

Moanin' by Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers

Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet

Our Man in Paris by Dexter Gordon

And, of course...

Kind of Blue by Miles Davis

As well as a number of Django Reinhardt tunes.

Not terribly obscure or imaginative, I know, but I'm relatively new to the Jazz game.

I'm listening to music right now, at work.

It helps me work, unless I'm on here, being distracted.

I usually listen to metalcore/deathcore while I work.

I find this song helps me zone out whenever the need should arise, most of the songs on this album really.

A bit of shameless promotion, but my brother had a release on Kahvi, a site that hosts electronic and ambient music from unknown, up-and-coming artists. I've found that I study extremely well when I listen to it. Give it a try. I guarantee you, the download is harmless.
