So, I recently found my N64 while cleaning my room, and decided to go to town on some of my old games. I popped in Star Fox 64(Lylat Wars) and beat it with the special ending. Beating this ending made me realize something I completely missed before.

The ending is the one where Fox's dad leads you out of Andross's base. I was 6 the last time I played this level so I never really picked up on the fact that Fox's dad is actually dead in this ending. I always thought that this was the good ending because it was the one where Fox saved his dad, but that doesn't actually make any sense. Where did James Mcloud go after they escaped? Why wasn't he around during the ceremony? And why didn't anyone but Fox even notice him? The only reason I can think of is that James was dead. It was his ghost that led Fox out of the base.

Another one I didn't get was From Majora's Mask.

Mikau is the Father of Lulu's eggs, or at least is implied to be.

This one has nothing to do with me finding my N64, but in Fallout 3...

I never actually found Oasis until my third playthough. I just thought three-dog was spouting nonsense as a joke.

Has there ever been a moment in a game that you missed completely, whether it was a plot point or quest or something else?

Yeah the entire story of Final Fantasy Tactics. All I understood is click on the red dot to go to the next battle. Played it again and wow the story is very dark and cool.

And in Final Fantasy 7 I didn't understand that Cloud way gay until I played it again 10 years later.

After going through the human origin again in DA:O there's an ever so subtle way you can catch Logain out in his little attack on your estate. If you get the persuade skill and get the guard to make him come out of his tent there's one little thing he says (or rather, omits to say) that was a bit odd...

I won't say anymore, think about it if you got through it again. I think my Ace Attorney skills were kicking in XD

Oh and there's a fucking super spoiler you can notice within the first 5 minutes of Persona 4 once you completed it once already.

Only open this if you've beaten P4 already mmm,k?

You shake Dojima's hand, controller doesn't move. You shake the hand of the Totally Unimportant Gas Station Attendant two minutes later and your controller vibrates like crazy

I didn't own a 360 at the time when Mass Effect 2 was released so I had to wait a few months...or maybe a year or so before I could get nice and pissed off at how it deviated from the original.

To go in line with the intent of this thread though (I think) I only play Shadow of the Colossus and Okami for the first time back in about March or so of this past year. Despite my massive time displacement though, I've loved what I've played of both even though one of them makes me feel like the world's biggest asshole for killing their title creatures.

I must have played through Half-Life two dozen times, and until I played Black Mesa last week I had NO IDEA that the correct sequence of teleporters in the Lambda Core was written on the floor. I though it was purely trial-and-error all along.

I sometimes find crap in Skyrim I didn't know about. I must have played it for at least 7 months before I ever walked out the east gate of Riverwood. I thought that it would just lead over to the mine, and it does, but the path goes up and there is a lil bandit camp with a Block skillbook.

They went unmolested for months, and now its one of the first places I go when I start up a new game lol.

I missed about half the plot of Alpha Protocol. That game really makes you work in-game to uncover what's going on, which is both good and bad.

If I ever play FF10 again, ever, then this will count as the first time through (as opposed to the only time through):

In the penultimate boss fight, that I was severely underpowered for (apparently), I missed the command trigger for Tidus to talk to Jecht. This is, evidently, needed to the extreme if you didn't grind the controller into the dirt. So then Jecht's overdrive would wreck my party, and I eventually just quit... possibly from rage.

---

When fact checking, I found loads of people talking about doing 100k damage to him in one hit and calling for the mass execution of those who couldn't follow suit. Smug little time-wasters... I don't care that you wasted 50 hours of your life. Don't tell me the final boss was easy because you spent a week reading ahead and preparing.

So, here's a fun little tidbit about KOTOR 2.

Kreia is Handmaiden't mother.

The pieces to the puzzle, are there throughout the story. And when put together... [http://lparchive.org/Knights-of-the-Old-Republic-II/Update%2058/]

I love this game. Always find something new when going through it. Even more-so with the content restoration patch.

Well first time I played through Fallout New Vegas, I sorta rushed through the main story for the most part.

Second time through though, I decided to take my time in the game and actually explore a little bit off the beaten path.

The result? I got to meet Veronica. Who's currently one of my favorite characters in the game.

I also found a bunch of interesting places. Like the vault the Boomers came from, and an underground area in Westside where people pit Wasteland creatures like Deathclaws and Cazadores against each other.

And speaking of Deathclaws, I had a run in with an Alpha Male Deathclaw. You can imagine how well that went.

So yeah, New Vegas was definitely more satisfying for me the second time around.

when I think about the missed stuff in games in my past.

I always think about the old classic "Indiana Jones and the Fate of the Atlantis" because I had no idea that there were three different playthrough sequences, I had only played the team version.

The alternate ending to "The Dig" was another that took me forever to find.

More recently "Batman Arkham Asylum" with both the decoding the hidden messages and finding the secret room

My mind was just blown. Im actually playing through this game again right now.

Although it's kind of a stretch, like (prepare for a horrible analogy) saying that apples and oranges are the same thing because they are both fruits.

OT: I play my games so obsessively that i stopped finding new things a long, long time ago, but i think that there were a couple things of-course.

When i first played Fallout 3 and New Vegas i didn't use melee weapons which was a massive mistake on my part...they are massively overpowered when combined with the retarded enemy AI. Super sledge and a corner and death claws die in 2-3 hits with almost no skill. Most things don't get to attack

I didn't realize the face in the cover of silent hill 2 (NTCS) is Angelas until years later, i thought it was a generic face.

I know there are tons of gameplay stuff but i can't remember
