Sometimes stupid notices are put on things. Usually you may not notice them but they are there and a lot of them make you think who the hell thought that was relivent.

I am talking about "may contain nuts" on a bag of nuts.
I found an egg carten that said alergy notice contains egg...well yes eggs do contain egg who would have thought or not have known that.
another I found odd was surving surgestions for a bottle of water. good as a mixer or on its own...

Considering how much artificial flavoring, fillers, texturizers and such exist in the food industry, it's really not that far-fetched to think there might not be peanuts in something marketed as a peanut product. Consider it a nice reassurance that what you're eating is actually what's on the front label. It's like "all natural" except with lawyers.

As an example "Circus Peanuts" don't actually have peanuts in them, but they do have soy products.
