Was curious if anyone has ever done something as boneheaded as this.....

got to level 100 of a game (in this case Torchlight) and portaled back to town. Went to visit the merchants and somehow clicked the wrong thing.... and ended up retiring my character. Grrrrrr.

I was curious how far the game would go once I maxed out on experience points, and then I totally screwed up. Other than wanting to throw a temper tantrum and pitch the thing out the window, I restarted the game.

Has anyone else ever done something like that? If so, what game was it, and how far along were you?

I once almost got close to completing my Pokedex... Then my friend deleted my file accidentally.

I've never got that close to completing it since. And I've learned to keep my games to myself.

I was once only six pokemon away from completing the pokedex in the Emerald version and out of boredom I had started a new game with no intentions of saving over it. Out of instinct I saved over it because thats what you do when your done playing pokemon, you save the game. I'm still kicking myself for that.

I do stupid stuff all the time, but, I've learned to make backup saves when I can, and threaten my friends and guests with bodily harm if they erase my save files, it works.

I got really mad when I beat Fallout 3 the first time, 'cause I was expecting it to not end. I tend to save very often in RPG's so that i won't have to go back too far if something goes wrong. Little did I know that my saving during the final mission locked my character into completing the game...
So, I started over with a new character and just avoided the main story like the plague.

Red Dead Redemption
Beat out every other poker player in a game in blackwater once, killed a bunch of peds out of boredom and loaded a save (good honor)

Little did I know it would take me so bloody long to beat one poker game later on, I had to do it to get one of the outfits to get 100% game completion, I tried several times before giving up and shooting the person who was winning the most, did this on and off for almost a week I think

Dude that sucks. I'm still plodding through Torchlight for the second time, and so wish I hadn't retired my first character.....she was just the way I wanted her... with some pretty cool weaponry and armor.... excuse me while I go cry.

I think the most stupidest move was to leave my DS open beside my bed on the floor....yes...I remember it clearly but at least I found out that the DS screens cannot hold the weight of an overweight person without suffering some damage
