I refuse to believe that's real... It's all I have left... If that is a real test question, then I have no business being a human, and wish to trade in my opposable digits.

That looks like the result of asking an eighth-grader to write an original short story in 10 minutes (The Tortoise and the Hare being that child's favourite story). That is the only way I can imagine this thing coming into existence. That being the case, any chance you can prove this is a real exam question? How did you get a hold of it?

What?! What is this?!
They're 8thgrade too which is the worst bit. This is something you should find in kindergarten!

Has the school system changed so much really changed so much in NY? The dumb delusional animals we read about in 8thgrade were the ones from George Orwell's "Animal Farm".

... words, they have failed me. I think I died a little inside. I feel like after reading that story I should get a phone call telling me I will die in seven days. This has to be the most retarded thing I have ever read.

This cannot be real its... i just.... what?

Maybe its some kind of meta-question, and to get top marks you have to realise what a profoundly stupid piece of nonsense this is.

It is almost as bad as the unseen poems we had to analyse for GCSE Literature.

"Due to the ambiguous nature of the test questions pertaining to the passage ?The
Hare and the Pineapple? on the New York State Grade 8 English Language Arts
Test, the State Education Department has decided that Questions 6-11 will not
be counted in determining students? test scores. At the time of the scoring of
the multiple-choice questions, this adjustment will be made by the Department?s
contractor."
