-->>I PREDICT SPOILERS! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!<<--

ok, so i played halls of reflection (world of warcraft) for the first time, and i was enjoying the dialogue until the line "there must always be a lich king.." i mean really, did they really have to rip off pirates of the caribbean? i dont know, maybe im the only one who noticed it, anyone else notice something ridiculously stupid in a game?

I can't count how many things have stolen that line. So many that the original is completely lost to history, no doubt.

Umm did you miss the warcraft train or something? It was said a long long time ago that there in fact would be another lich king. People have been guess who it would be (and I think they actually found out who through data mining).

The entire concept of "there must always be a [controller of this type of power]" is exceedingly old and well used throughout fantasy and sci-fi. Hell, even Blizzard's done it before.

I can't recall if they ever stated it directly, but the same is true for the Zerg , without some kind of Overmind they just no nuts and rape everything in existence, including one another. The Overmind died and a new one was formed, it died and the Queen of Blades takes its place. It was really, really predictable the same would happen in Azeroth too when you consider that the Zerg and Scourge are extremely similar in structure and relative purpose (one king-like-controller, kill/assimilate everything they interact with, etc).

The only real mystery, at least for a while, haven't been reading my WoW-anything lately, was whether it'd be:

Whatever's left of Bolvar taking up the throne, or Darion making sure the world doesn't end or some other random/not-so-random person instead.

I almost cried from laughter when he said that. I just had a mental image of Barney for a good 10 minutes.
I can now see him in Mass Effect. God Damn that would make for a sweet game

I now have a new endeavor to embark on. Create Barney in Mass Effect.

Time to re-install.

It part of the plot and is understandable, I'm we can't have a bunch of uncontrolled undead going around killing everthing. So what if its been used before lots of things of most of story tell nowadays is just clichas.

I feel like reading this has made me dumber.

Could you possibly have a more vague topic?

The writing is Sonic Adventure is generally bad, but there is something Tails says at the end that just makes me cringe.

"All's well that ends well, right?" Oh why yes Tails, everything has ended so happily. Except...you know, the city got destroyed, thousands of people are dead, even more are now homeless, and this is probably going to effect the economy in a bad way. But since Sonic 'neutralized the negative feelings in Chaos's heart' (Whatever that means), this is a happy, happy ending.

Good god, Tails is pretty stupid for someone who is such a mechanical wiz.

Why can I break into a random peasants house, steal everything they own, and then walk out the doors while still being praised as hero of the lands and savior of kittens everywhere? It's just one rpg cliche I'm really tired of. And seriously, who puts all this stuff everywhere anyway? Why does generic peasant #2332 have a diamond and a longsword in his closet? Bah!

And by the by as it's been pointed out that 'must be one' trope hardly started with Pirates of the Caribbean. Hell, Blizzard themselves used it in Starcraft's story for the Zerg! That's how Kerrigan came into power.

"You were almost a Jill Sandwich!"

OT:I would have to say KotOR 1, when Trask sacrifices himself so you can escape, yet the door explodes and closes forever not 10 seconds after he goes in.
Just close the door and lock it quickly, if Bandon goes by the same logic as the rest of it does, he'll be spending the next 5 minutes bashing it in, during which you'd be getting in the Pod.
Fuck it though, Trask was an asshole when you think about it.
